Responsible for performing essential accounting and analytical duties related to the Jack in the Box Marketing Fund and Beverage Funding including collaborating with internal departments in developing the Marketing Fund budget and forecast. Performs accounting duties related to GL close of Marketing Fund and Beverage Funding involving SOX process and controls, projects, account reconciliations, and financial or statistical analysis to support decision making by Supply Chain and Marketing leadership.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees and reviews beverage contract agreements; performs analysis to prepare journal entries and posts to the general ledger; performs short and long-term liability account reconciliation, identifies inaccuracies/variances, and researches/resolves discrepancies. Estimates prepaid funds to transfer to converted franchised restaurants. Liaison between vendors and JIB regarding beverage funding and ensures effective on-going relationship.

  • Evaluates and calculates cost of beverage inventory for Company operations; prepares journal entry and posts to the general ledger.

  • Creates reports and downloads data to produce spreadsheets and tables for reporting purposes. Performs quarterly and annual reconciliations with beverage vendors, identifies inaccuracies/variances, researches and resolves discrepancies. Prepares Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) reporting package for beverage funding reconciliation. Provides flux analysis for beverage accounts.

  • Maintains store count report used for Marketing Fund and Beverage Funding. Maintains SOX process compliance and marketing fund objectives. Maintains Jack in the Box Oracle Project module for Marketing Fund.

  • Assists in preparing presentations of Marketing Fund results and related information for the internal Marketing organization.

  • Collects and tracks inventory donations for quarterly tax purposes. Tracks, reconciles, and disperses vendor rebates.

  • Coordinates and facilitates the development of the Marketing Fund budget and forecast. Analyzes submissions from departments for compliance with Marketing Fund objectives and interprets trends to address misalignments, if any.

  • Develops detailed budget and forecast for Regional Marketing Advertising to Sales (A/S) forecast at market level each fiscal period. Monitors planned regional media placement to ensure spend meets placement targets and communication goals specified for markets.

  • Acts as the accounting liaison for marketing and supply chain departments to ensure the marketing fund is accurately reflecting the planned spend. Performs analysis to identify and communicate large variances in data.

  • Performs period end General Ledger close duties related to the Marketing Fund; prepares journal entries and posts to the general ledger; performs liability and prepaid account reconciliations, identifies inaccuracies/variances, researches and resolves discrepancies. Prepares Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) reporting package for marketing fund reconciliation. Provides flux analysis for Marketing Fund balance sheet accounts.

  • Reconciles period end reporting of Oracle Projects to the General Ledger. Provides Period end reporting to Marketing groups.

  • Assists the preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual status reports for the Jack in the Box Inc. marketing organizations.

  • Coordinates with multiple departments to ensure accurate coding of checks and wires.

  • Performs other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned and directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance.

Experience

  • 3-4 years related accounting/financial analyst experience.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Proficient knowledge of accounting concepts and techniques.

  • Solid computer skills, including proficient knowledge of Excel; working knowledge of accounting and financial systems preferred (Oracle/Discoverer, Hyperion).

  • Strong oral and written English communication skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Requires strong organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to speak/hear clearly in person and on the telephone, ability to operate a personal computer. Ability to operate a 10-key by touch.

The range for this position is $63,700 - $90,700 and is based on an employee located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego. If the candidate is hired in a different city to work remote, we will apply a geographic pay differential based on the cost of labor in the market in which the employee resides.
