Position Summary

The Marketing Assistant supports the outreach and marketing activities that let the Corvallis community know about all of the Majestic Theatre's amazing arts and culture programming. Duties include assisting and supporting the Marketing Coordinator in the creation and maintenance of websites, social media, print, and other promotional projects.

This position assists in creating content for social media, driving engagement through video and photo posts. These tasks are illustrative only and may include other related duties.

Non-represented, casual position

Part-time, approx. 20 hours per week

Monday-Friday afternoons, with some variation and weekend work as needed

Must meet all qualifications and requirements as listed in the position description.

At Parks and Recreation, our mission is to preserve and create a community heritage by providing places and programs designed to enhance the quality of life. The Majestic Theatre brings a wide range of artistic productions and arts education programs to Corvallis.

Essential Functions

Assists with designing and producing visual and audio marketing communication materials, including brochures, advertisements, newsletters, business materials, banners, posters, etc. adhering to the brand standards of the Parks and Recreation Department.

Assists in the printing/production process of marketing materials; which may include securing competitive quotes from vendors, preparing files for printing, communicating with vendors to ensure delivery deadlines, and distribution of materials.

Assists in writing and proofing of marketing materials and press releases.

Assists in the collection of program information necessary for the development of marketing materials.

May design facility/program logos as needed.

Assists with day-to-day functions by performing tasks that include, but are not limited to, taking photographs, attending meetings, assisting in website maintenance and updating the Departments social media sites.

Assists with the execution and evaluation of promotional strategies consistent with outlined marketing plans, strategic positioning, branding and goals.

Contributes to the development of marketing plans for new and existing programs.

Assists with marketing support for planning and implementation of special events and projects.

Works professionally with all staff, participants and volunteers.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience

Two years related experience or education in marketing/promotions or related area; or combination of education and experience that provides the employee with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Experience with relevant software applications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Effective written and verbal communication skills the ability to give and understand oral instructions.

Decision-making, conflict resolution, negotiation, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and as a team member of Corvallis Parks and Recreation Department staff.

Proficiency in Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.

Extensive experience in Adobe, InDesign, Word Press, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Ability to learn new programs as technology advances.

Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, recognize priorities and meet deadlines.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and to produce accurate work in a timely manner.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and judgment in dealing with sensitive or confidential information.

Good customer service skills, and the ability to interact with groups of all ages.

Ability to get along well with coworkers, the public, staff and volunteers and to maintain effective working relationships.
