Purpose of the Position:

The Marketing and Recruitment Specialist will develop and implement strategic initiatives in marketing and student enrollment to help the college recruit and engage students, enhance its brand and reputation, and engage internal and external constituents.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and implement a marketing strategy for the college to enhance its brand image and reputation locally and nationally.

  • Develop and manage marketing campaigns across various mediums to build interest in our college.

  • Plan outreach efforts to all of our students throughout their lifecycle (interest, application, enrollment, graduation).

  • Manage the branding, digital assets, website, social media, and print publications for the college.

  • Coordinate with the university's Office of Marketing and Communication as needed to ensure compliance with university branding guidelines.

  • Secure stories, write, edit, and assist with designing regular communications for internal and external constituents, particularly the annual biannual college newsletter.

  • Provide training to departmental personnel on newsletter development software and newsletter guidelines as needed.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate recruitment and retention strategies for all programs in the College of Education, in collaboration with academic departments.

  • Develop, implement, maintain, supervise, and assess the process for responding to inquiries to grow the number that result in applications.

  • Develop and create marketing materials that include, but are not limited to printed brochures, promotional materials, website design, mailers, and email campaigns; creating opportunities for faculty to interact with prospective students including campus visits and online events; Managing departmental follow-up with application leads; and reviewing recruitment efforts annually to see progress in increasing applications.

  • Coordinate and attend recruitment fairs and events.

  • Cultivate relationships with local school districts, community colleges, and other external entities with the purpose of driving student enrollment.

  • Utilize best practices and decision-making skills to identify and select enrollment growth opportunities. Perform data analyses to help develop strategies to meet enrollment goals.

  • Assess the college's student retention, time-to-degree, and graduation rate statistics and identify potential retention barriers and opportunities for improvement. Develop a college retention plan.

  • Collect, analyze, and report student persistence/learning/satisfaction data.

  • Serve as a liaison to faculty and academic advisors in the development/improvement of programs that increase and/or sustain enrollment goals and enhance student success.

  • Create college programs and events to build sense of community.

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute significant student- and community-facing annual events for the college, such as Honors Convocation and Signature Speaker Series events.

  • Assist departments and academic advisors in conceptualizing and planning events geared towards student retention, community-building, and alumni relations.

  • Create and design event marketing materials in graphic design programs (Canva, photoshop, etc.) and communicate and promote upcoming events with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the college through traditional and digital marketing channels.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience

  • 1-3 years of full-time verifiable work experience in a higher education setting or marketing and communications

  • Must have solid computing skills, including Microsoft Office Suite

  • Must have excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in: marketing, business, communications, or a related field.

  • Master's degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience with higher education marketing or student recruitment is preferred.

Basic graphic design knowledge using Canva, PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, or comparable software is preferred.

  • Experience with social media account management and website content management is preferred.

Published Salary (if available):

$50,000 - $53,000
