The City of Everett is accepting applications for the position of MARKETING AND DESIGN SPECIALIST in the Transportation Services department.   This position reports to Transportation Services and may also provide up to 12 hours of assistance to support city wide projects.

About the Department

Everett Transit is a dynamic team providing transportation services to a thriving community. The Transit Administration team supports our Operations team to provide both fixed route and paratransit services in the City of Everett. The transportation team is comprised of compassionate, safety driven professionals who want to make a positive difference in other people's lives. This position will work in conjunction with operations and administration teams to market and strategize communication efforts to broaden transit use. This position may also assist other departments of the city as needed.

ABOUT THE JOB

Under the direction of the City's Transportation Services Manager or their designee, this position will assist in marketing and communications efforts to broaden transit use, engagement and involvement among transit customers and city residents.  An employee in this classification will design, coordinate and prepare ads, posters, pamphlets, brochures, publications, displays, signs and exhibits for informational, educational, marketing and promotional purposes using graphics software; and translate statistical and other data into maps, charts, graphs, illustrations, project slides, and other presentation media.    

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and support the oversight of Transit's internal and external graphics, including physical collateral, website and social media content.

• Participate in internal and external meetings with relevant parties during the development of outreach and marketing campaigns.

• Assist in maintaining the Brand Guide, including needed templates. Provide guidance on how to best represent the brand in different situations.

• Design and produce printed, physical and digital graphics materials, including posters, ads, maps, postcards and signs.

• Provide input on look, feel and navigation of websites; develop images for website slideshows and other online features. Assist web managers in ensuring a similar look and feel.

• Keep current with emerging design trends through relevant blogs and events; suggest updates to policies and practices as needed.

• Assist in planning internal and external project scopes, timelines and budget estimates for printed materials and other visual media.

• Support projects to ensure a consistent look and feel.   As needed, assist other departments with content review/creation.

• Coordinate and support the procurement of printed materials or other visual media, working closely with vendors to ensure brand consistency.

• Assist in the development and implementation of standards/best practice policies.

• Review and track graphics projects being developed internally and by outside partners; provide feedback and print approval as needed.

• Coordinate a design production schedule to meet project deadlines.

• This position may also assist other departments of the city as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A combination of education and related experience may substitute for education requirements.

• Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Graphic Art, Fine Art, or closely related field and

• A minimum of 3 years' experience in graphic design or a related field.

• Possession of or ability to obtain a Washington State Driver's License.
