What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The hiring salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 annually. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:
A guaranteed life-long monthly pension, once vested after 5 years of service

What You'll Do
The Office of Councilwoman Amanda Sawyer, who represents City Council District 5, is seeking a Communications and Marketing staff member who is a self-starter, and possesses excellent interpersonal communication, attention to detail, and exceptional writing skills. This individual has a dedicated work ethic and an inherent ability to maintain a professional, positive attitude in a fast-paced, changing work environment that includes reorganizing priorities to meet community and constituent needs. This is a full-time, at-will position.
The position includes the core responsibilities of communications, event and project coordination, constituent services, and administrative duties. A Marketing and Communications staff member for City Council District 5 will be able to effectively time manage, prioritize, and lead in the below areas:
Create, develop, and manage marketing content, which may include social and online media, print media, direct mail, newsletter, and other multimedia
Prepare presentations
Event planning, and attend community events; promote community engagement
Develop and implement communication and marketing campaigns
Prepare and disseminate press releases/media advisories to local media, newsrooms, and public inquiries
Manage and edit all photographs and video content for informational, creative, entertainment, advertising, and promotional purposes
Write, edit, and publish content for websites, videos, social media posts, and email campaigns
Manage search engine optimization of all social media content to increase visibility
Generate content that motivates, inspires, educates, and informs across a wide variety of digital platforms
Complete other duties at the discretion of management
About You
What You'll Bring
Our ideal candidate is either familiar or has a desire to learn to navigate municipal government departments and agencies and is well-informed about the current political landscape in the District 5, Councilwoman Amanda Sawyer represents. This position requires a solid rapport with the district team and developing familiarity with constituents, community, and area stakeholders.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Strong organizational skills with managing deadlines and projects
Experience using one or more of the following:
A graphic design platform (i.e., Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva)
Email and marketing software platform (i.e., Mailchimp, Salesforce)
Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work flexible hours including weekend and after hours when needed
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
Experience: None
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
