This position pays between $54,020.00 to $67,525.00 and is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

Responsible for the support, administration, configuration, data integrity, testing and training for a variety of fuel procurement, commodity trading, customer billing and gas management systems (i.e. GMS, SAP ERP, SAP CRB, Daily Gas Strategy Presentation, PGS Load Forecast, Allegro, Global View, Crystal Reports, etc.). Gathers user needs to design and develop ad-hoc reports. Leads or participates in software development / implementation projects.

ADVANCEMENT IN PROGRESSION

Advancement is not automatic, i.e. based solely on time in the job, but will be based on direct observation of the employee's performance, accomplishments, qualifications, and the business and/or technical needs of the department.

LEVEL I - Market Services Analyst

Under direct supervision, supports the variety of fuel procurement and trading systems and participates in any software development and implementation projects. This position also performs accounts analyses and generates reports in support of the PGS Transportation team.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with the users to understand the current business process and identify reporting requirements. Gathers business requirements and then self-generates or directs IT resources in the development of models, systems and reports to support trading activity. Generates ad-hoc business reports from internal and external sources according to business needs.

  • Provide training and support to the users of the gas management system software.

    Develops and implements processes to train users in the efficient use of applications and models and/or new features of the software.

    Documents software errors and attempts to determine if the error is a result of user and/or software issues. If the issue is the result of a software error, works with the vendor to find an acceptable resolution.

  • Develops functionality testing plan for the gas transportation department system software updates/patches. Performs testing and documents results.

    Documents business process changes in the systems procedure manual. Coordinates implementation of test plan with users.

  • Provides 1st tier gas transportation department support for all Information Technology requests such as new hardware, software installs, troubleshooting, etc., to resolve user requests.

  • Updates, maintains and administers the TEC/PGS Daily Gas Strategy Presentation Updates FGT Available Capacity and PGS Load Forecast.

  • Responsible for planning, testing, and setup of emergency operations facilities. Identifies daily business processes that must continue in the event of an emergency (loss of Plaza facilities). Develops and implements backup procedures for sustained gas trading and transportation activities.

  • Supports the operation of the gas transportation management team filling in as necessary to support coordinator of market services personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Preferred: Master's Degree in business administration or computer related field.

Related Experience:

Required: Minimum one (1) year related technical systems experience. Related experience may

consist of application support, system administration and/or database design.

Preferred: Three years natural gas utility experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Required: Application support experience, system administration, project management, database query experience, Visual Basic for Applications, database design and implementation, and PC hardware/operating systems.

Preferred: Knowledge of the Energy industry including commodity trading and settlement.

LEVEL II - Market Services Analyst Senior

Under moderate supervision, leads and supports the variety of gas trading and management systems. Leads software development and implementation projects.

Increasingly takes a leading role in development of technology projects that optimize the technology and surrounding business processes that support gas trading and gas transportation activities. Leads the implementation and overall technical support of new and existing solutions. Also performs account analyses and generates reports in support of the PGS Transportation team, while providing direct customer service to PGS transportation customers.

May mentor and train Level I Analyst position. Supports the operation of the gas transportation management team filling in as necessary to support Coordinator Market Services.

  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of the gas trading and transportation business function to identify business needs, develop and maintain new technology tools that enhance the productivity of the business development team. Updates, maintains and runs the TEC/PGS Daily Gas Strategy Presentation Updates FGT Available Capacity and PGS Load Forecast.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree.

Preferred: Master's Degree in business administration or computer related field.

Experience

Related Experience:

Required: Minimum three (3) years related technical systems experience and two (2) years natural gas utility experience. Related experience may consist of application support, system administration and/or database design.

Preferred: Four years natural gas utility experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Required: Application support experience, system administration, project management, database query experience, Visual Basic for Applications, database design and implementation, and PC hardware/operating systems.

Preferred: Knowledge of the Energy industry including commodity trading and settlement.

RELATIONSHIPS

Key Internal: Responsible for communicating with multiple departments/TECO companies within Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas, to furnish/receive information, resolve transaction/business process issues, and enhance business processes. Works closely with the Information Technology department.

Key External: Responsible for maintaining contact with software vendors to resolve issues and relay training from vendor to system users. Works with customers to resolve system and/or data integrity issues.
