Market of Choice is seeking a full-time Area Loss Prevention Specialist for our Belmont, Cedar Mill, and West Linn Stores in Portland!

The Market of Choice Loss Prevention Team is a group of highly-trained professionals utilizing the best technology in four areas: Eugene/Corvallis, Portland, Bend, and Ashland. The Area Loss Prevention Specialist will cover all stores in his or her area, and visit stores in other areas for training and special projects. The ALPS will be involved in external and internal investigations, employee and customer safety, vendor and shortage issues, and physical security design and implementation. The starting wage for this position is $17.25 - $21.50 per hour depending on experience with growth opportunity up to $23 per hour.

DUTIES

As an Area Loss Prevention Specialist, some of your duties will include:

  • Conduct surveillances for criminal acts

  • Apprehend, detain, and process shoplifters

  • Assist in ORC investigations

  • Document criminal acts and build solid criminal cases

  • Conduct internal and external investigations

  • Write accurate and precise reports

  • Testify in criminal and civil court

  • Conduct safety, shrink, and physical security audits

  • Provide all other Loss Prevention functions

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Valid OR drivers license and reliable transportation

  • Interest in a career in retail Loss Prevention

  • Professional, courteous, and calm attitude

  • Excellent observation and planning skills

  • Ability to think clearly under pressure

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of local & state laws

  • 18 years or older

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DPSST Certified

  • Proficiency using MS Office, Digital Cameras, and CCTV operations

  • Preference will be given to applicants with at least three (3) years of loss prevention experience, but all applications are welcome.

  • Applicants must be available for weekends, after hours, and occasional out of town and

overnight work.

Car mileage reimbursement is available.</p><p>Supports and assists the Community Manager in overseeing and managing the financial and operational facets of the community by completing accounting and bookkeeping tasks, preparing monthly close-out and financial reports, processing invoices for payment, collecting rent, fees, and other payments, completing bank deposits, dispositions, and account reconciliations, and using the property management software to record, track, and report on all financial workings of the community.</p><p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p><ul><li><p>Completes the daily transactions and tasks related to the financial operation of the community by collecting and posting rent, fees, and other payments, preparing daily bank deposits and reconciling bank accounts, preparing financial reports, and processing invoices and payables.</p></li><li><p>Operates the property management software (Yardi/OneSite) and completes transactions by entering all required fields correctly and by completing updates and back-ups to ensure the integrity of the system.</p></li><li><p>Reviews resident files and accounting records to determine unpaid and/or late fees owed, communicates with residents regarding outstanding balances, implements procedures for collecting on delinquencies, and enforces the lease to maximize revenue.</p></li><li><p>Reviews and submits invoices from vendors, contractors, and service providers for payment by reconciling work performed or products purchased, obtaining community manager approval, coding charges to appropriate Chart of Account codes, and managing communication between the vendor/contractor, accounting, and the client/owner as needed.</p></li><li><p>Follows the Company's established procedures related to evictions by following proper notice requirements, evicting residents, and representing the community as required in court hearings and eviction proceedings.</p></li><li><p>Processes resident move-outs by reviewing lease terms and notice requirements, applying appropriate deposit and lease cancellation fees, if applicable, and processing the disposition in accordance with established procedures and legal requirements.</p></li><li><p>Promotes resident satisfaction and retention by responding to complaints, questions, and requests in a timely manner, and taking appropriate action to resolve and address service issues.</p></li><li><p>Acts as the on-site supervisor in the absence of the community manager by organizing and delegating daily work, coordinating maintenance and make-ready tasks with the maintenance supervisor, and managing the operation of the community in compliance with Company policies, procedures, and business practices.</p></li><li><p>Assists in managing the client/owner relationship by meeting with the owners, conducting community tours, providing updates and information about the community's performance, and responding to owner requests as needed.</p></li></ul><p>#LI-EM</p><p>Depending on the position offered, regular full-time and part-time team members may be eligible to participate in a bonus program in addition to their base salary.
