Job Description

As Market Finance Senior Manager you will play a vital role in monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the financial performance of the sales function within Smiths Detection Americas. You will oversee and coordinate the sales processes, analyze and evaluate the financial performance and opportunities of the sales departments in North, Central and South America. You will report directly to the VP of Finance with a dotted line to Sales. You will work with various stakeholders in sales, marketing, finance and product management to provide financial updates, analysis, reports and recommendations for improving the sales performance within our company.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Generating and presenting regular financial reports to sales leadership and other relevant stakeholders. Communicating financial insights in a clear and understandable manner.

  • Sales Performance Metrics: Establishing and monitoring key metrics related to sales performance, such as conversion rates, customer acquisition costs, and revenue per sales representative.

  • Sales Planning Support: Providing financial guidance and support in the development of sales strategies, pricing structures, and incentive programs.

  • Cost Control: Monitoring and controlling expenses related to the sales function, ensuring that costs are in line with budgets and identifying areas for cost-saving initiatives.

  • Risk Assessment: Identifying potential risks and opportunities within the market and suggesting strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.

  • Forecast Accuracy Improvement: Implementing measures to enhance the accuracy of sales forecasts through improved data collection, analysis, and collaboration with sales teams.

  • Compliance: Ensuring adherence to financial policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements within the sales department.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborating with other departments, such as finance, marketing, and operations, to align financial goals and ensure a holistic approach to business performance.

  • Continuous Improvement: Actively participating in process improvement initiatives, suggesting enhancements to data collection and analysis methods to optimize business operations.

The Individual

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA/CPA preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years experience
  • prefer 8-11 years

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Post qualification experience in a role where budgeting, forecasting and management reporting are significant

  • Global mind set and comfortable working with a diverse, geographically dispersed stakeholder base. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with consolidated data in a multi-national listed group is an advantage

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Results oriented with a record of delivering business performance improvement. Individual should be driven, and be able to work independently and with a small team

  • The ability to make effective, timely decisions in a complex, global market by sourcing and analysing critical information whilst engaging, challenging and working effectively with others

  • Flexibility with a strong problem solving mindset with the ability to prioritise and effectively handle several concurrent assignments under tight deadlines spanning timeframes, geographies and functions

  • Excellent communication skills and influencing skills and a confidence and gravitas to work across the business and with senior stakeholders.

  • Good PowerPoint and presentation skills, including preparation of materials for senior leadership

  • Excellent Excel skills and experience working with financial systems such as Oracle Smart View and SAP is an advantage.

  • The ability to effectively manage the performance of people, monitoring progress on objectives and behaviours and coaching others for success

  • Willing and able to identify and support change and continuous improvement in own and wider business environment

  • The ability to make effective, timely decisions in a complex global business, by sourcing and analysing critical information.

  • The ability to build an effective network of relationships both internally and externally, understanding their customers' needs.

  • Ability to read, write and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or government regulations.

  • Ability to effectively present information to peers and management team.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals, and standard operating procedures.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Must have knowledge of Database software, Design software, Internet software, and MS Office software to include Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
