The Market Development Manager is responsible for building the business units presence and understanding in key markets using market intelligence information and providing key data, research and analysis for macro economy, market and industry trends and competitor changes. This position identifies and key attractive markets and then develops and executes a winning marketing plan. This position contributes to global strategy initiatives, development and execution of the business units' product, service and commercial initiatives worldwide.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute Market Research and Voice of Customer activities for strategic, product and innovation initiatives. Act as a "Center of Excellence" as well as a depository and curator of the Market Research and VOC data.

  • Develop world-wide competitive intelligence processes and tracking tools, establish and synthesize competitive insights.

  • Use of multiple qualitative, quantitative, and analytical research techniques to uncover and identify answers to key strategic and product related questions regarding the market and customers.

  • Develop and provide data collection analysis in terms of the macro economy, regulatory, regional, industry and market trends on a regular basis.

  • Synthesize information into substantial conclusions, develop a compelling story based on data, while generating impactful, business-impact recommendations.

  • Monitor and track competitors' tactical and strategic changes. Perform regular competitive reviews with commercial teams, providing up to date information and insights.

  • Recommend strategic investments in key markets and develop early business cases to support

  • Work with Transformative Marketing function to advise on communication plan

  • Contribute to the business unit's strategy planning teams.

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or related life sciences field. MBA and/or PhD preferred.

  • 5 years of commercial experience in business development, marketing, product management.

  • Experience with financial forecasting, modeling and competitive tools, executing VOC, market research and market segmentation.

  • Commercialization practices and processes understanding

  • Proven experience in Life Sciences with a background in Biotechnology and gene therapy preferred.

  • Ability to travel up to 25%, including international travel.

Working collaboratively with Sales, R&D, Marketing, Supply chain and Operations this position will be accountable for the executing of NPD projects and engaging with third party technology partners. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Partner with R&D and Product Management to execute the New Product Development Roadmap, working closely with development teams to define requirements from product ideation, improvements and sustaining phases. * Partner cross functionally to align on design strategies and drive design choices that will ensure Design for Manufacturing, Design for Excellence, Design for Reliability and ensure designs have high yield during manufacturing. * Establish scope for New Product Development activities using rigorous Voice of the Customer, prioritization and growth tools. * Proactively identify, manage, and plan for product introduction risks and mitigations. * Lead the development as a customer champion to identify customer pain-points, user needs and ensure our products solve valuable problems in attractive segments. * Drives innovative business opportunities through a Phase-Gate Development process in the capacity of a Product Owner/Manager from "product ideation" phase to the "Ramp Up" phase of the projects. Assure maximum Return on Investment considering capacity and capability gaps, channel gaps & incremental revenue and margin improvements. * Responsible for the development of business cases for roadmap and early evaluation, prioritization of products, assesses competition and market segmentation. * Responsible for talent management to ensure the continued development for other associates or possible direct reports. Partner closely with the human resources organization in developing organizational capabilities through succession planning, organizational assessment, identification of key skill gaps, talent acquisition and talent development strategies that link with business goals. * Build trusted relationships with your team members; Understand what they value and support them in achieving their development goals. Coach the team to enhance their network and identify ambitious / stretch roles or projects to support career progression. * Understand the performance and development planning process. Partner with your team to create objectives, measure performance progress against objectives and close gaps with appropriate action plans. * Other duties as assigned. Position Minimum Requirements: * Bachelor degree in a life science related field or an Engineering. A MBA or equivalent is highly desirable. * 15 years relevant experience in Life Sciences with a background in Biotechnology or Biopharmaceutical preferred. * Proven skill at leading a global cross-discipline team. * Excellent interpersonal communication skills with proven leadership capabilities and a bias for results. Ability to present highly complex, technical information clearly and persuasively. * Ability to build strong cross-functional technical teams who demonstrated successful achievement through product release. * Strong ability to self-manage, take initiative, organize, and prioritize multiple projects at various stages in a fast-paced environment. * Effective and disciplined project management, planning, and monitoring capability. * Solid understanding in various quality tools including Design Control process, GMP manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma. * Ability to travel up to 30%, including international travel.
