Job Purpose

Markets Conduct Risk works with Markets and Securities Services (MSS) and functions including Compliance, Operational Risk and Internal Audit, to support identification, evaluation and management of conduct risks in MSS Trading and Sales businesses. The Conduct Risk Framework team is part of Markets Conduct Risk and maintains the framework used for identifying and assessing conducts risks and evaluating related controls, as well as performing thematic risk assessments and executing conduct control testing across MSS. The primary mission of the Conduct Risk Framework team is to facilitate senior management in identifying and measuring conduct risks, and evaluating and remediating related controls, thereby supporting responsible provision of financial services to clients and effective risk management for the firm. As part of the Conduct Risk Framework Team, the Thematic Risk Assessment team manages all aspects of planning, execution and reporting for a program of thematic conduct risk assessments covering MSS Trading and Sales businesses.

Key responsibilities:

This role is to perform planning, execution and reporting for thematic conduct risk assessments covering MSS Trading and Sales businesses.

Key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Support ongoing monitoring of the conduct risk profile of MSS Sales and Trading businesses

  • Executing thematic risk assessments, including risk identification, inherent risk assessment and control evaluation

  • Maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across Front Office, Independent Compliance Risk Management and Operational Risk

  • Providing robust challenge to stakeholders on conduct risks and related controls

  • Supporting stakeholders in determining necessary control remediation identified through thematic risk assessments

  • Provide advice on conduct risk and control matters to stakeholders across all three lines of defence

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
  • Previous or current experience in an investment bank or Financial Services to an Investment Bank

  • Understanding of how market conduct risk behaviours could arise and what type of controls should be used to mitigate risks associated with trading and sales activities

  • Experience in assessing the design and effectiveness of controls.

  • Knowledge of industry wide regulatory actions and conduct risk remediation programmes preferred

  • Strong understanding of risk management practices, including inherent risk assessment, control evaluation and residual risk measurement

  • Experience delivering execution of complex projects to challenging timelines

  • Ability to deliver rigor and attention to detail in execution

  • Experience of developing and maintaining effective senior stakeholder relationships

  • Deploying excellent verbal and written communication skills to support impactful communication with senior stakeholders

Qualifications:

College/university education preferred, but appropriate industry experience & exceptional delivery track record is as important.

Citi defines Reputation Risk as the risk to current or projected financial condition and resilience arising from negative public opinion. This risk may impair the bank's competitiveness by affecting its ability to establish new relationships or services or continue servicing existing relationships. It arises directly from how we conduct our business and can impact how key stakeholders, such as customers or clients, employees, regulators, shareholders, the general public or other stakeholders view the integrity of Citi. The In-Business Reputation Risk function is responsible for the management and coordination of the primary governance forum for reputation risk at Citi, the Reputation Risk Committees, for supporting the Reputation Risk Appetite Reporting Process, and for facilitating the continued evolution of the overall Reputation Risk Management Framework. Role/Responsibilities The primary role of the Group Reputation Risk Senior Analyst is to work with the Business, the In-business Reputation Risk Managers, and Reputation Risk Management to administer the Reputation Risk Program and Reputation Risk Committees for the first line and to support the overall Reputation Risk Framework. Duties for the Group Reputation Risk Senior Analyst will include: * Driving the business to operate responsibly and to maintain practices of the highest standards of ethics and integrity while considering Citi's external constituents including regulators, the shareholders, employees, the general public and other stakeholders * Execution and communication of project plans, standards, protocols, policies, procedures and other documentation, that will contribute to the success of Citi Reputation Risk Management Process and its objective of maintaining highly effective relationships with our regulators and supervisory agencies and strong examination ratings * Participation in training initiatives, including the development and administration of training on reputation risk identification as well as communication of program requirements * Monitoring and reporting on issues tagged to Reputation Risk in iCAPS including analyzing for risk concentrations or themes * Produce monthly reporting on the operations of the Reputation Risk Program as well as summaries of reputation risk issues escalated for review * Maintain Reputation Risk SharePoint including regularly assessing for completeness of documentation across the Businesses and Regions * Analyzing and identifying issues for the identification and management of reputation risks, which requires significant business knowledge, product expertise, and influence with senior working groups, leadership councils, and executive governance bodies * Detecting trends and areas of emergent reputation risk through participation in strategic forums, research on legislative, regulatory and reputation risk issues and trends * Steering cross-functional collaboration with business and functional partners to facilitate the exchange of information and early identification of risks * Supporting and furthering the evolution of the Reputation Risk Appetite Reporting and Reputation Risk Management Framework (e.g. identify key performance metrics, conduct surveys, source risk identification from other functions at Citi) Academic and Professional Qualifications Education * Advanced degree not required but relevant, such as Masters in Business Administration, Masters of Public Administration/Public Policy Management, Masters in Ethics/Ethical Decision Making, etc. Professional Experience * 3-5 years of direct banking experience or equivalent experience in a first-line risk management function * Prior experience in program administration * Demonstrated commitment to Citi's Mission and Value Statement and Leadership Standards * Deep understanding of external environment and identified reputation risk stakeholders * Skilled in collaborating with internal partners, including a broad stakeholder group across all functions and levels of the organization Skill Qualifications Analytical and Intellectual Skills * Strong project management skills * Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze operational and financial impact of various alternatives and risk mitigation approaches while providing effective risk management strategies to support the business * Intellectual curiosity and strong research skills to understand implication of consent orders, shifts in regulation, and marketplace activity * Ability to identify and link emerging risks and pinpoint underlying business practice concerns across multiple businesses and global regions Relationship Management and Maturity * Ability to act as a partner across multiple business lines and regions * Ability to use discretion and sound judgment related to reputation and other risk mitigation recommendations, given work is highly intellectual and confidential in nature * Excellent written and verbal communication skills Institutional Knowledge * Ability to execute on cross-business/cross-functional policies and standards, often applicable globally * Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously and demonstrate an understanding of the projects' interdependencies and key participants * Previous experience with risk management and identification a plus Citigroup Inc.
