DMG employs a Clinical Psychologist in the Division of Psychology to consult and collaborate in the care of patients whose needs require a multidisciplinary approach.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participation in consultations to specialty medical services, including Oncology, Endocrinology, Pain Management, and outpatient evaluations with adults across a range of neurological, medical, psychiatric and co-morbid disorders.
Provide general biopsychosocial evaluations, consultation, and treatment services. Individuals, couples, families, and groups are cared for with a wide variety of problems including: depression, anxiety, stress management, self esteem, bipolar disorder, self injurious behavior, anger management, and problems with relationships. Evidenced-based therapy is practiced. Length of treatment and frequency of sessions are based upon individual need.
Conduct Psychological testing and neuropsychological evaluations to diagnose dementia, traumatic brain injuries, and appropriateness for medical procedures (e.g., bariatric surgery, spinal cord stimulators, etc.). Personality assessments are also offered for select evaluations.
Develop and implement therapeutic treatment groups for a variety of issues (e.g., stress management, coping with chronic illness).
Develop, direct, and participate in training programs for staff and students.
Expertise in selection, administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological tests in order to obtain information on individual's intelligence, achievements, interests, and personalities.
Write reports on patients, and maintain required paperwork.
Refer patients to other specialists, institutions, or support services as necessary.

EDUCATION and / or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program in clinical psychology
Completion of an accredited internship
Eligibility for licensure in Illinois
3-5 years experience as a licensed psychologist ideal
Experience in a hospital and/or medical settings preferred
