What you will be doing:

As the Business Development and Financial Analyst Manager for the Alaska Marine Highway System, your primary responsibility will be strategically analyzing and enhancing the organization's financial operations while fostering business growth opportunities. This role involves spearheading the evaluation of revenue streams, optimizing costs, and conducting financial forecasting to ensure the long-term sustainability of the marine transportation system. Additionally, you will identify and develop strategic partnerships, explore new routes, and assess market trends to expand the system's reach and profitability. Through data-driven insights and collaboration with key stakeholders, you will drive efficiency, financial stability, and innovation within the Alaska Marine Highway System, contributing to its continued success and service to the Alaskan community and beyond.

Key responsibilities include conducting in-depth market research to identify trends, potential clients, and competitors and analyzing data to make informed decisions and develop market entry strategies to maximize revenue. You will also identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations, building strong relationships with key stakeholders to expand market reach and grow the customer base. Additionally, you will develop pricing strategies, assess pricing effectiveness, and identify new revenue channels, all while supporting the sales team with marketing support and collateral to achieve their targets effectively.

Preference will be given to candidates with marine-related experience corresponding to the competencies listed above.

Minimum Qualifications

Positions in this job class are in the partially exempt service in accordance with AS 39.25.130.

Recommended Qualifications:

Five years of experience in a combination of the functions administered by the branch, at least two of which were in a supervisory capacity.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant analytical experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or MBA preferred.
