The Position
The Port of Portland is hiring a temporary Marine Boilermaker for our Marine Facilities!
We are seeking a skilled journeyman welder and mechanic with a can-do attitude who would enjoy working in our unique Marine environment. The successful candidate will have experience working with a variety of materials in an industrial setting, and be able to follow work direction. In addition, this person will be a proven team player whopromotes safety as a guiding principle and a regular practice in accomplishing work.
NOTE:This position is classified as temporary, full-time with an anticipated sunset date on or around
July 31, 2024.Temporary employees qualify for health benefits, paid time-off, and boot allowance per the collective bargaining agreement. Generally, the schedule will be Monday
Friday, 7 a.m.
3:30 p.m. with occasional overtime and weekend work required.
Essential Job Duties
Supports burning, fitting, and welding for all Marine areas
Calculates layouts and metal fabrication
Coordinates work efforts with other crafts
Maintains equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Utilizes Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as required
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED); or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
Experience:
General boiler experience (perform general welding, burning, and fitting) and mechanic experience is required.
Stainless plate welders that are certified in stainless dual shield and stick is required.
Identify correct types of welding rods for welding situations.
Accurately read and work with blueprints and layouts.
General experience around pile supported docks is preferred.
Licenses required:
Journeyman level welding certification is required.
Maintain a valid state drivers' license is required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) from the Federal government is required. All licensing fees will be reimbursed by the Port of Portland.
