The School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University invites applications for Manufacturing Technician. Located in West Lafayette, Indiana, we are dedicated to building an internationally recognized hub of manufacturing excellence. We are searching for a Manufacturing Technician with demonstrated expertise, practical experience, and problem-solving skills by critical thinking and servicing skills in the fields of manufacturing (3D printing), advanced machining and finishing technologies, flexible manufacturing and automation, and advanced materials. This position will provide hands-on technical services and practical application guidance to students and faculty in an engineering research setting.

What We Are Looking For
Education and Experience:
Required:
Associate's degree in engineering, machining, welding, or related manufacturing field
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing, laboratory, design, or testing environment
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
For example, a High School Diploma / GED and four (4) years of experience
Skills:
Required:
Formal training in CNC machining
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels, including the ability to work as part of a team
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems, in order to meet deadlines
Ability to work under pressure and produce high-quality work with attention to detail
Background working with and fixing machinery, e.g., mills, lathes, grinders, etc.
Background in modeling and programming in CAD and CAM software
Prior knowledge of testing and mechanical behavior of materials
