Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

In this role you'll be responsible for building, testing, troubleshooting and repairing complex Electro/Optical mechanical assemblies and systems. This will involve assembly and testing of Mechanical, Optical, Fiber Optic and Electronic components and products to meet the production schedule. Work includes production and repair of customer returns. You will be working with Focused Beam Reflectance Measurement (FBRM), the industry-standard measurement technique used for in-process measurement of particles. In addition you will:

  • Comprehend manufacturing assembly/operation procedures.

  • Write out manufacturing test reports and data forms.

  • Ability and manual dexterity to read and comprehend detailed assembly instructions, electromechanical drawings and electronic schematics.

  • Build and repair optical electrical mechanical field units and sub-assemblies.

  • Hand solder, crimp, package and cable.

  • Operate a computer, balance counter, and count material.

  • Lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Do fiber optic assembly, splicing, alignment, and testing.

  • Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Minimum seven years electrical mechanical manufacturing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience with Laser alignment; Strong board troubleshooting to component level and mechanical skills; experience using DVM, Oscilloscope, hand tools; excellent soldering skills.

  • Knowledge of Lean Management techniques such as 5S

  • Familiar with FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) systems, Interferometers and Small IR (Infrared) optics, and Fiber Optics assembly (a plus!)

  • Experience with software installation and production instrument calibration; Fiber optic assembly, splicing, alignment, testing

This person will be optimizing the performance of electrophoretic displays through manual and computer-assisted manufacturing processes. Job responsibilities include inspecting results, instrument calibration, generating test reports, verifying performance through final electro-optical testing and documenting the work performed. Additional duties may include setting up experiments with electro-optical test equipment.
