Caterpillar currently has an opening for an Engineering Technician position supporting Reman Drivetrain located in the West Fargo, ND facility. This is an hourly position that will work as part of a team to develop new products and processes from conception to launch, as well as support existing processes, products, and equipment. Incumbent will assist in initiating CPS and Lean concepts, process gauging, contamination control, torque and leak-free assembly, quality systems and practices, process documentation, product specifications, PPAP, capital equipment, project development, material delivery, and safety.

Job Responsibilities to include but are not limited to:

Incumbent will assist in initiating CPS and Lean concepts, process gauging, contamination control, torque and leak-free assembly, quality systems and practices, process documentation, product specifications, PPAP, capital equipment, project development, material delivery, safety.

  • Responding to safety incidents, completing safety audits and equipment safety reviews

  • Responding to ANDON issues

  • Responding to issues found at Quality Gates

  • Providing quality support for continuous process improvement and resolving quality issues

  • Updating and Developing Disassembly SWI, SFMEA, PFMEA

  • Participating in daily process improvement dialogue meetings and weekly continuous improvement meetings

  • Running tests and experiments to support process improvements

  • Auditing and maintaining charts, creating, and analyzing quality data and reports

  • Reviewing data collected and generating reports for Operations

  • Performing cleanliness audits and generate reports on results

  • Scheduling and performing process and parts audits

  • Training new operators on production processes

  • Providing support for troubleshooting and mitigating out-of-process conditions

  • Leading/supporting root cause analysis meetings

  • Supporting production and other functions of the process as needed to support Operational needs and business critical goals

Basic Requirements:

  • Experience reading, setup and using measuring equipment like Go-no-Go gages, length gages, diameter gauges, micrometers, calipers, and master gauges

  • Good PC Skills (Office and Power point)

  • 2-5 years' experience working in disassembly and/or inspection or equivalent relevant experience

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Two-year tech school degree or equivalent experience

  • Must be able to produce results in deadline-driven assignments and work with minimal supervision.

  • Strong root cause analysis skills

  • Strong communication skills

Compensation & Benefits Offered!

  • Hourly Pay Range: $23.72 - $30.23 (salary negotiations to be offered based on skills/experience)

  • 2nd shift Work Hours: 4:15PM - 2:45AM

  • 2nd shift will receive an additional 7% night shift premium.

  • Monday

  • Thursday with occasional overtime on Fridays
  • $2,000 sign on bonus. Incumbent will receive first pay out after 90 days of employment and second payout after 180 days of employment.

  • The payout of sign on bonus will be based on acceptable performance and attendance*

  • 40-hour work weeks with potential for overtime

  • 80 hours of vacation with an additional 24 hours of paid Personal Time Off (PTO)

  • 10 Paid holidays

  • 100% 401k match up to 6% offered on day 1 of employment
