Job Description Summary

The role is responsible to develop and support an effective integrated planning and scheduling with production to allow an overview of all maintenance plans that may interact with the manufacturing unit's equipment. This role will oversee the optimum utilization of resources and spare parts with minimum impact in asset availability. They will ensure compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD values.

Under general direction, supports the media maintenance teams by ensuring availability of parts, equipment and accurate data (drawings, procedures, specifications, etc.) to improve machine uptime. Creates best practice procedures to ensure accuracy and availability of data in the SAP and Solid Works PDM. Uses SAP and supporting systems to report on maintenance (breakdowns, machine performance, maintenance costs, PM compliance, etc.).

Works on production and maintenance assignments that are complex in nature. Reads and interprets blueprints, electrical schematics, technical manuals, pneumatic schematics, and equipment specifications. Analyzes and evaluates technical data and follows testing and inspection procedures. Maintains accurate records in accordance with FDA, GMP, and IS09000 guidelines.

Responsibilities

Works effectively in a team setting, supporting team goals and objectives. Makes effective decisions relative to position requirements.

Provides technical support to maintenance and the engineering team. Performs SAP planner functions including, but not limited to:

  • Monitoring MRP and order SAP and Non-SAP parts

  • Completing work-orders, goods issues, confirmations and TECOs

  • Creating and installing new equipment in SAP

  • Creating and modifying SAP spare parts and PMs

  • Performs goods receipts, cycle counts and control of spare parts

  • Systematic identification of spare parts requirements and the creation and modification of parts in the SAP system.

  • Identifies obsolete parts and determines suitable replacements. Coordinates and leads efforts to replace obsolete parts following design control procedures.

  • Using vendors, engineering and SAP data, improves the content and planning of Preventative Maintenance to reduce equipment failures and improve machine efficiency.

  • Develops best practices around documentation of work and equipment. Uses this data to track performance and identify equipment and procedural opportunities.

  • Updates CAD drawings, specifications and procedures in SAP and SolidWorks PDM.

  • Drives daily production goals and works overtime as necessary to satisfy customer demand.

  • Follows safety rules and regulations per company policies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SECOND SHIFT 2:30PM-11:00PM

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, create and analyze / evaluate charts, diagrams, drawings, and testing / inspection procedures.

  • Must be able to maintain neat, accurate and complete records and logs and use calibration equipment.

  • Must be proficient in the use of a PC and various word processing, flowcharting, planning and graphing software. Examples of such software include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, Visio,. 2D & 3D drafting skills using programs such as AutoCAD and Solid Works, while not required are a strong benefit.

  • Must have mechanical and electrical skill and knowledge of devices used to control machine operations.

  • Must have fundamental understanding of selection and technology for most basic production automation devices including motors, drives, controllers, PLC's mechanical drive elements, cams, sensors, pneumatic, hydraulic, refrigeration and steam components, and dispensing equipment

  • Must be able to focus continuous attention to detail with updating data and maintaining accuracy of data.

  • Must be able to work in cross functional teams.

  • Must possess good written, oral communication, interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to visualize equipment improvement ideas and has own ideas for equipment / process improvements.

  • Quality oriented, reliable and dedicated.

  • Lifting/moving 1-5 lbs. over 30% of the time. Lifting/moving 5-25 lbs. 5-10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in skilled trades or equivalent work experience in manufacturing and equipment repair. OR

  • Vocational school/Associates degree and a minimum of five years' experience in skilled trades or equivalent work experience in manufacturing and equipment repair.

  • Proficient with Personal Computers, including previous experience with SAP. Licensed or certified in specific discipline or trade (e.g. electrician, mechanic, drafting) strongly preferred.
