ROLE SYNOPSIS

The Manufacturing Systems Engineer works with all related Manufacturing plants worldwide, Product Engineering, Corporate IT and the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering group to convert legacy data systems to integrated next generation business systems. Will define and execute the integration of process and automation equipment with IT systems (SAP MII) to capture data. Analyze data and drive next generation industry 4.0 initiatives. Will act as the liaison between equipment and IT.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drives manufacturing execution through integration of IT systems and manufacturing equipment (including automation, robotics, production process equipment, continuous improvement and lean) for improvements in product quality, machine availability and manufacturing costs.

  • Assure connectivity of automation and machine tool data into MII along with establishing operating systems for utilization.

  • Define and implement data collection, analysis, and reporting strategies in our facilities to support Top 2 Bottom and Industry 4.0 initiatives. (next generation solutions)

  • Train and support deployment of applications, implement change, and gain acceptance of new or revised processes and implementation procedures. (next generation solutions)

  • Monitor process and process control

  • Interact and manage vendors

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years' experience Experience working with various control systems and connecting them to an MES system

  • 2+ years' experience project management, coordinating multiple projects/stakeholders preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science field preferred

  • Exceptional leadership and team work abilities is a must

  • Experience with SAP MII is a plus

  • Must be willing to travel 20-50% globally

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder

Program Overview The Associate Sales Engineer Program is a 15-month developmental program designed to provide eager professionals with the experiences and tools needed to successfully transition to and grow within an innovative company The incumbent will develop technical skills, product knowledge, customer relationship, project management skills and business operations skills necessary to become a successful sales professional at Kennametal. Through the rotation, the incumbents will: * Learn the basics of metal cutting & Kennametal products to provide technical solutions to customers; * Partner with sales teams to learn the various functions of the team, their roles and responsibilities and how they drive revenue; * Support customer-focused initiatives of the sales team through various account assignments; * Learn to use and apply solution selling and value selling techniques through shadowing sales professionals and formal training; * Actively participate in developmental training and opportunities to engage with areas of the business that support sales such as Customer Service, Customer Application Solutions, Product Management, Engineering and Manufacturing. The program consists of 3 parts: assimilation, field assignment(s) and project presentation; in addition to support resources such as a mentor and internal ASE network.They will then be relocated to a sales region and be provided a company vehicle for 12 months.50% or more travel will be required. The final month of the program will consist of project presentation and assessments. Post completion of program, the successful incumbents will be placed in a sales territory with in the United States.
