Manufacturing Systems Engineer - Equipment Lifecycle Management

10x is seeking an experienced, collaborative and results-oriented individual to join our team as a Manufacturing Systems Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial engineering, and ideally has worked supporting a manufacturing setting. This individual will work alongside the manufacturing and process development teams and will assure existing equipment and robotic systems used in the manufacturing of 10x Genomics reagent products are maintained, calibrated and available. This team is responsible for calibration, troubleshooting, continuous improvements, PM, and qualification of equipment within the 10x reagent manufacturing sites and will ensure day to day operations can occur smoothly.

Individuals applying for this position must have experience with systems used in reagent manufacturing. In addition, they should be action driven, flexible in changing direction and strategy, thrive in a fast-paced environment, excel at managing multiple competing priorities, have excellent communication skills, work well in cross functional teams, and provide an immediate contribution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for defining and supporting calibration and maintenance programs for manufacturing and qc equipment.

  • Responsible for equipment vendor management.

  • Responsible for maintaining equipment status in CMMS for timely PM and calibration.

  • Responsible for supporting equipment life cycle progression from testing through retirement.

  • Work across the organization to gather raw data with regard to equipment capacity and efficiency and structure it into manufacturing systems for analysis and strategic planning.

  • Responsible for gathering and reporting key metrics relating to automation equipment utilization, failure modes, up-time and availability (MTTR, MTBF, etc.)

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining spare parts for assigned equipment.

  • Responsible for authoring/supporting the qualification and risk mitigation of equipment used in manufacturing and QC operations:FMEA DIR, SDS, IQ,OQ,PQ FAT, SAT.

Required Skills and Background

  • B.S. or M.S. Degree in Engineering or Life Sciences

  • 5-7 years experience in working on a Sustaining Engineering team supporting Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.

  • Experience with JMP, Matlab, or other data analysis tools.

  • Experience with MES, CMMS, and SCADA systems and interfaces to ERP/PLM.

  • Experience with transferring equipment into operations.

Desired Skills and Background

  • Experience in establishing new CMMS and MES systems in manufacturing is a plus.

  • Previous experience programming queries to SQL databases is required. Experience with Oracle Cloud. ERP, Ignition SCADA, Postgres and MySQL highly desired.

  • Familiarity with quality management and formal product testing (e.g., verification and validation) desired.

  • Experience with statistical design, modeling and use of design of experiment (DOE) approaches.

  • Willing and able to support international manufacturing sites and CM's (~15%) typically in Asia.

  • Able to work independently to drive projects to completion and track progress.
