Bridger Steel, a long term, manufacturing company is seeking a Manufacturing Specialist to work at our new Kalama, WA facility! Come join our team as we continue our twenty plus year tradition of manufacturing the highest architecturally appealing metal roofing and siding products in the market. We have showrooms and manufacturing facilities across the Northwest.

About the Manufacturing Specialist - Production/Warehouse Position

The Manufacturing Specialist ensures the daily production goals are met safely, efficiently, and accurately. Core responsibilities may include operating various pieces of production equipment (i.e., brake, shear, roll-former) to fulfill orders, packaging items for shipment (i.e., using basic carpentry skills with power tools), and picking and loading products (i.e., attention to detail and organizational skills) for superior customer service. This position will report directly to the Operations Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Operate various pieces of Production equipment safely and effectively; i.e., brake, shear, standing seam

  • Use provided customer information to prepare and ensure correct selection of finished products for packaging, deliveries, and load outs.

  • Operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Use power tools safely and efficiently to construct wooden crates/ pallets for shipping, as necessary.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced Production environment while keeping area safe, clean, and orderly.

  • Repair and clean the equipment when needed.

  • Assure all products are produced to the highest standard of quality.

  • Follow safety procedures and Company policies for equipment operation. Identify and report unsafe operations and injuries to Supervisor immediately.

  • Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and safety.

  • Work under the guidance of Supervisor to perform and complete the assigned duties in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work overtime and Saturdays as needed.

Some of the Skills and Knowledge Required for the Manufacturing Specialist

  • Lift 50 lbs. regularly and 80 lbs. occasionally

  • Ability to stand, bend, and twist during entire shift while working on a concrete floor in warehouse

  • Must have stamina and coordination to work in a demanding shop environment under a variety of climates and conditions

  • Ability to read customer paperwork and decipher a tape measure

  • Ability to operate power tools in a safe and efficient manner

  • Understand and follow oral and written directions

  • Exhibit basic computer skills

  • Basic math knowledge with the ability to convert fractions and decimals

  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communications skills; both written and verbal

  • Perform as part of a team while maintaining a positive work environment

  • Willingness to cross train and move to other areas of shop to support team members when needed

  • High School Diploma or GED; must be 18 years of age to operate machinery

  • Machine maintenance and forklift experience beneficial

  • Familiarity with driving a truck and trailer beneficial; CDL-A License preferred

Store Operational Hours: Job is primarily Monday through Friday, day shift with approved overtime and working seasonal half day on Saturday as needed.

About the Outside Sales Representative Position The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for marketing, promoting and profitably selling products and services to existing and new customers in a specified region or geographical area. This position will report to the District Sales Manager or Regional Manager depending on the area serviced. The successful candidate will work with customers such as builders, architects, homeowners and ranchers as well as internal inventory, production, and office personnel. The region this candidate will service is the Northern Oregon/Southern Washington area. Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to Research, identify, and develop new customers, projects and opportunities. Manage leads and acquire new business by making calls, scheduling meetings and follow up appointments. Excel in cold call tactics. Educate, develop and build long lasting relationships with new and existing customers. Provide documentation and samples to current and potential customers Schedule appointments with current customers to determine other opportunities. Educate customers on new products and ideas that they may be unaware of. Assist customers with purchasing questions. Write sales orders and estimates. Follow up with customers during and after estimates and projects. Handle customer questions, complaints and concerns. Liaison between dedicated inside sales representative and customer. Organize records and create weekly activity reports. Attend local building association meetings and dinners. Work home and trade shows. Promote collaboration and a positive, professional environment. Outside Sales - Career Details * Team-based on-boarding includes two to three month training sessions in the Billings, and Belgrade store location working with office management, inside sales and production personnel. * Travel will amount to approximately 3-4 days a week with 1 -2 overnight, with the remaining time/days to be worked at the Kalama store location. * Starting pay is salary exempt $50,000 - $65,000 range DOE. Performance is reviewed annually and base income will increase upon merit. * Additional advantages include generous un-capped tier of commissions, implemented immediately. The commission structure ensures a steady and progressive income beyond the salary base.
