Job Purpose
Study new model feature technology and develop new Line End Tester (LET) inspections prior to Mass Production by interfacing with Design/Suppliers, confirmation testing, identifying root cause, implementing temporary solutions and permanent countermeasures to ensure minimal line downtime and optimal vehicle quality is delivered to the Customer.
Key Accountabilities
Root Cause Analysis: Resolve complex issues impacting the vehicle, manufacturing process, and/or customers. Complete complex investigations to identify the root cause. Resolve cross functional issues with multiple departments, Design, and suppliers. Document each issue with result data and recommended action plan. Find temporary solutions to issues when essential to sustain safety, quality and delivery. Provide feedback on complex issues to the appropriate and or responsible party.
Implement permanent Countermeasures: Work with manufacturing, Design, and suppliers to apply the change points. Ensure no adverse side effects by confirmation testing on vehicle and in manufacturing process. Prevent outflow of vehicles to the Customer that are outside the set quality standards. Recommend a permanent countermeasure which could include (but is not limited to) a design change, a modification of software by the supplier or modification of LET inspection modification. Utilize PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action) to confirm countermeasure effectiveness.
Support production with issues to ensure optimal line efficiency (minimizing downtime): Ability to identify vehicle and Plant characteristics to avoid LET configuration inefficiencies. Consistently audit the LET process flow to improve inspection pass rate and Associate process flow.
Respond to production line calls.
Identify process improvement within the manufacturing and LET process flow.
Participate in New Model build events.
Cross functional interaction with other departments, Design, and suppliers.
General understanding of the vehicle features on Honda/Acura brand models.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical Engineering or related associates degree with experience; or equivalent experience
0-6 years of experience based on education.
Prefers at least 3 months or greater of relevant Co-op experience.
Prioritization skills drives continuous improvement, good interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft software (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook).
Basic mechanical skills to remove/install automotive components
Working Conditions
Varied work environment (office and workshop).
