Overview

As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will provide expertise in protective coating solutions for our manufactured products.

Responsibilities

  • Technical expert/resource for surface preparation of steels, aluminums and galvanized metals

  • Technical expert/resource for solvent-based, water-based and powder coat paint systems

  • Troubleshoot and identify root cause of paint defects relating to substrate, wash, paint and curing

  • Apply knowledge of coating performance testing relating to corrosion, weathering, adhesion, etc.

  • Assist with the paint system specification based on required coating performance and product environment

  • Lead the development of in-house paint process parameters and standards

  • Research and validate new technologies to improve coating performance and reduce operational costs

  • Design, coordinate and document all applicable paint testing

  • Lead, design and implementation of manufacturing process improvements

  • Assist in development of preventative maintenance procedures

  • Lead / participate in continuous Improvement (Kaizen) activities

  • Research and specification of new capital equipment

  • Participate in problem solving efforts using A3 thinking

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a process engineering role

  • Minimum of 2 years with powder coat and/or liquid paint experience preferred

  • Technical knowledge of paint processes, to include powder coat, solvent and water-based systems

  • Capital equipment analysis and justifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing

  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time

  • Demonstrated computer skills with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Creo (preferred)

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Demonstrated leadership ability to execute change

As a member of an Army National Guard Combat Engineer team, you'll design and build bridges, roadways, secure perimeters, and tactical firing systems, as well as detect and safely neutralize mines and other dangers to safeguard your team and repel the enemy.
