The following position is being recruited for on behalf of American Flowform and Machining owned, by Consolidated Boring.

American Flowform and Machining is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to join their team in Billerica, Massachusetts. As a Manufacturing Process Engineer your primary responsibility will be to take ownership of one or more product lines and manage that product line's manufacturing process from beginning to end. Taking a hands-on approach, a successful Manufacturing Process Engineer will monitor production and testing, assist in troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and drive continuous improvement efforts throughout the process.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support customers' technical requirements from program infancy through First Article Inspections

  • Develop and maintain work instructions and manufacturing processes for various metal products

  • Evaluate products' material properties to ensure adherence to strict specifications

  • Optimize processing capabilities through use of continuous improvement principles

  • Model and optimize material process flow through production to improve on time delivery

  • Contribute to the research, design and selection of tooling, fixturing and gauging to be used in the manufacturing process

  • Oversee equipment modifications, upgrades and automation

  • Help to lead a Zero Injury Culture through actions and developing safe job procedures

  • Authority to perform all tasks/activities responsible for

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering

  • Minimum five years' experience working in engineering in the manufacturing industry

Preferred Qualifications (in addition to Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering

  • Experience working with 2D and/or 3D CAD software, especially Cadra and Solidworks


  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Knowledge of metals and materials

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including CNC Machining, Non-Destructive Testing (Magnetic Particle, Pressure Testing, Dye Penetrant) and Mechanical Testing (Tensile, Hardness, Grain Size)

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles

  • Experience working in an AS9100 facility

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multitask with a high attention to detail

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
