We deliver top quality fresh ingredients in the exact quantities required with chef-designed easy-to-cook recipes, to thousands of households across the globe. Together we build brands customers love. Currently we operate three brands that are serving households in the US, the European Union, and Australia: Marley Spoon, Martha & Marley Spoon, and Dinnerly.

Who are we looking for:

You are an manufacturing leader that wants to take responsibility for our East coat facility. You are a self-starter that loves building and leading high performing teams. You use data analysis to identify focus areas and you want to have the opportunity to make an impact every day. You have experience in running manufacturing operations, understand lean manufacturing principles and you like to train your team on those principles. You are obsessed with delivering on your promise to your customers.

The General Manager will provide leadership to improve and sustain Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) culture and compliance. Maintains global standards for quality controls, productivity, shipping/receiving, plant maintenance, and inventory control. Responsible for continuous, measurable improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. Assists the Vice President of Manufacturing in managing the company's North American toll manufacturing network. Assists the VP, Manufacturing with the development and implementation of corporate manufacturing strategy, including capacity planning, plant product mix optimization, and "Make or Buy" analyses. Responsibilities Major Responsibilities: * Set and achieve measureable, aggressive SHE goals for Newark plant within the framework of the Troy Operations System (TOPS). * Drive safety consciousness down to the operator level to create a real safety culture at every Troy location.Develop, implement, enforce, and drive the continuous improvement projects aligned with TOPS system. * Sets goals for manufacturing activities for the areas of, safety, environmental, quality assurance, productivity, plant reliability, inventory management and employee training. * Directly supervises the plant as well as contract or toll manufacturers in North America. * Ensures that the plant is producing product that meets quality specifications, in an efficient and cost effective manner, ensuring high levels of productivity. * Develops the strategic plan for the plant including capital projects or improvements, maintenance priorities and optimized plant utilization. * Ensures plant-staffing levels are adequate for safe and efficient plant operations. Interacts with in-house plant unionrepresentatives as needed, in conjunction with the Vice President of Administration. * Provides direction to the Engineering group for capital projects, process changes, repair projects, environmental compliance and other related items. * Works closely with Cost Accounting, Controller, Finance and IT departments for reporting, analysis, and special projects, especially the determination of the fully loaded cost of manufacturing for each location. * Establish the optimal level of automation to improve productivity in a cost effective manner supporting the "Low Cost Manufacturing" model. * Ensures all the metrics used to measure the effectiveness of the plant is created, updated and tracked on a continuous basis for easy access. Produces regular reports to upper management on key manufacturing metrics and potential actions necessary. * Ensures goals and objectives are created and assessed each fiscal year for all eligible employees in the manufacturing departments and ensures managers complete performance evaluations by the agreed upon due dates. * Participate and drive TOPS daily meetings weekly stewardship meeting, weekly quality meeting, supply chain weekly meeting (production schedule), weekly Engineering review monthly safety meeting, MBR (monthly business review), and quarterly financial review. * Obtains and maintains a blue seal boiler license * Performs all other duties as assigned. Supervises: Direct Reports: Plant Manager, Warehouse Operations Manager, Plant Controller Dotted Line: PSM Manager, Environmental Manager, QC Manager, Plant Engineering Works Closely With: ERA, Process Safety, Engineering, Purchasing, Logistics, Administration & Government Relations, Human Resources & Plant Management, Science & Technology, Human Resources Qualifications Key Candidate Attributes: * The successful candidate will have the following attributes:Knowledge of federal and local SHE regulations, including PSM, OSHA, EPA. * Strong knowledge in Union labor relations and key player in labor contract negotiations * Results orientation; high levels of personal initiative, energy and ownership for success. Superior written and oral communication skills; able to communicate across entire breadth of the organization (shop floor to executive level). * Strong team leadership and team facilitation skills; ability to work well across teams and in a matrix organization.Strong project management and strategy deployment skills; well organized; demonstrated planning skills * Logical, data driven and independent manager who is able to set clear, measurable objectives for subordinates and drive them to success in achieving them.Acts to generate multiple solution options and make principled recommendations. * An action oriented self-starter with a high energy level. EDUCATION AND EXPERENCE: A Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience, Master degree in Chemical Engineering or MBA preferred. Ten to fifteen years experience managing Chemical Manufacturing operations with direct plant experience. ADA Requirements: Climb vertical stairs and ladders if needed Good physical health with stability and without lightheadedness or dizziness. Strength for turning boiler valves and levers.
