GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position requires a hands-on management style to provide leadership to all manufacturing functions. The Manufacturing Manager's key challenges are to grow Production Outputs within guidelines for Product Quality and Labor Costs, while being an active Safety Advocate and Environmental Steward, and to deploy Company and factory policies and strategies to staff throughout the manufacturing operation and translate them into team and personal goals. This person is a self-motivated and a detail-oriented leader.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead Production Operations. Plan, direct and coordinate the manufacturing of products in compliance with goals and objectives

  • Establish and control conditions of production to satisfy Customer and Quality specifications

  • Maximize the efficiency of the Production processes

  • Plan, organize and coordinate operations, in accordance with established policies, principles, and procedures, to deliver the most effective return on assets through the efficient use of materials, machines, and employees

  • Review production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to assure attainment of business objectives

  • Manage spending against agreed budget, controlling spend relative to changes in production volume. Participate in the annual expense and capital budget development for the department

  • Implements and drives "continuous improvement" activities by eliminating non valued added activities in the manufacturing process (waste elimination)

  • Improve manpower utilization and schedule stability that allows for a maximum return on efficiencies

  • Monitor production standards and implement quality-control programs to continuously reduce both process and product variations

  • Recruit, train and develop production personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations. Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned areas of responsibility to consistently deliver safety, quality and performance improvements

  • Work to establish management practices which include all employees' positive involvement with equal opportunity for constructive input and action

  • Assure personnel policies are effectively administered and employee issues are addressed in a timely fashion

  • Continually improve EH&S performance by addressing facility physicals and employee behaviors to ensure safe and controlled manufacturing operations. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas

  • Perform and facilitate the timeliness of Annual Performance Reviews.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES

This job has supervisory responsibilities, supervising a staff of Manufacturing Supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE

More than ten years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university/advanced degree or certificate, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Advanced skills: Ability to use internet/intranet, cross functional Enterprise Resource Planning software, the MS Office package, and other software programs and packages to their potential to provide a work product fitting to the level of the position. Must also be able to perform troubleshooting

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: High Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: High Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to travel 10% and to make presentations in front of large audience.
