The Manufacturing Manager is a key member of the staff and will have responsibility for driving our manufacturing groups to world class performance. The person in this position will be responsible for the continuous improvement of multiple processes in a high mix, low volume, specialty product environment. Lean manufacturing implementation, resource planning and the development of our Manufacturing team are critical to the success of the business and are core responsibilities of the Manufacturing Manager.

The Manufacturing Manager must be an excellent influencer, communicator and coordinator at all levels within the organization. Be collaborative, proactive, exhibit strong leadership qualities and be able to adapt to a dynamic and fast changing environment. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationship across all levels of the organization.

  • Lead the Manufacturing team to achieve world class Safety, Quality, Service and Productivity.

  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma skills to address complex process opportunities with simple solutions.

  • Educate and develop strong analytical skills within the team to correct issues on the first pass.

  • Identify constraints to achieving plant goals and collaborate to find and implement effective solutions.

  • Ensure capacity is in alignment with growth estimates.

  • Reduce costs year over year (DVC and MBC) by driving productivity and sustainability.

  • Mentor and develop team members for career growth

Education:

  • Four year degree in Engineering, Management or equivalent related work experience

  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA) is preferred, but not required

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience

  • Prior experience in lean manufacturing and root cause analysis

  • Ability to drive process and culture change in a mature organization is highly desired.

  • Significant knowledge of Business Software related to Manufacturing and Capacity Planning such as SAP, ACCESS/SQL databases, and Excel

  • Demonstrate ability to perform root cause analysis and develop action plans to strategically eliminate barriers

  • Ability to identify waste and drive it out of complex processes

RESPONSIBILITIES: The major job responsibilities for which the Assistant Store Manager is accountable include assisting the Store Manager and Sr. Assistant Manager (if applicable) for: * Overseeing one or more areas/departments of the store * Maximizing store sales and profits * Meeting all goals (i.e. sales, credit applications, magazine sales, Club 50 memberships, shrinkage, payroll, and expenses) * Developing a qualified, well trained staff * Ensuring proper execution of all store operations functions and company programs * Ensuring the highest level of Customer service and satisfaction. * Maintaining company standards throughout the store * Protecting all company assets The following is a list of activities to support the accomplishment of these major responsibilities: CUSTOMER SERVICE/ SALESMANSHIP: * Ensure that all Customers are greeted in a prompt and friendly manner. * Ensure that all Customer phone calls are handled in a courteous and helpful manner. * Ensure that all associates are provided with merchandise information and effective salesmanship techniques. * Inform Customers of advertised and promotional events to increase sales volume. * Use merchandise knowledge to increase units per transaction. * Solicit new accounts and promote Premium Rewards Program. * Solicit magazine sales and Club 50 memberships. PERSONNEL: * Assist in the preparation and delivery of performance evaluations. * Assist in the utilization of company training programs. * Assist in addressing poor performance and administering the counseling process as necessary. MERCHANDISING: * Direct and ensure compliance with current VMi floor plans * Direct seasonal outposts set-up. * Direct and ensure accuracy of sales event set-up. * Ensure compliance with signing guidelines. * Ensure compliance with Folded Merchandise Program. * Ensure compliance with YES merchandise. * Direct and ensure accuracy of clearance event set-up. * Ensure compliance of fixture usage. * Set and enforce standards for window and interior displays. * Ensure stock keeping maintenance is followed (including close to open policy). * Ensure compliance with merchandise presentation standards and departmental prototypes.
