MISSION / SUMMARY: This is a key manufacturing position with management and technical oversight of day-to-day operations, production improvements, and ensuring the operational efficiency/safe operations of the Kraft, Recaust, and Recycle areas of the fibers department.

JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist the Fiber Manufacturing Manager in working with shift supervisors and hourly employees in the operation of the process including 3 continuous Kamyr digesters, recaust plant, and recycle fiber plant.

  • Accountable for area performance in accordance to established key performance indicators (KPI's) to include: safety, environmental compliance, housekeeping, quality, and productivity.

  • Drive safety to Zero injuries and support mill transition to safety focused culture.

  • Assist in direction of operations in a safe and orderly manner providing quality products according to job schedules and customer specifications.

  • Work with reliability/maintenance team members to plan and execute maintenance work to improve equipment/process reliability.

  • Establish and provide the operational expertise component of leading and managing our cultural change process, the strategic and forward-thinking capabilities in both the operational and human capital areas of the operation.

  • Assist in preparation of budgets and standards for cost measurement.

  • Determine training needs and administer appropriate training programs for hourly employees in their production area in the most reliable manner.

  • Assist in the creation/management of the KPI's and drive compliance to center lines.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of experience with continuous pulp digesters plants is required.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience in the pulp and paper industry is preferred.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor of Science, Engineering preferred.
