What You Will Be Doing

Direct and coordinate production, processing and distribution activities of industrial organization with quality and on-time delivery a top priority.
Develop budgets and approve expenditures for supplies, materials and human resources ensuring that materials, labor and equipment are used efficiently to
meet production targets.
Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures and duty
assignments considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems and work toward continuous improvement in
all areas.
Hiring, training and developing a qualified staff for the manufacture of products that meet production requirements and quality standards.
Communicating decisions and directives to reporting supervisors regarding disciplining or terminating personnel.
Work closely with all support group managers with sense of urgency to guarantee customer satisfaction.
Complete required employee evaluations for subordinates in a timely manner in order to communicate successes, job skill deficiencies and expectations
necessary for employment and advancement within the company.

What You Need for this Position

IPC Standards knowledge (inter-process communication), ISO 9001:2015

Understanding customer communication and dynamics having a strong sense of urgency to meet their needs.
High level of computer knowledge/experience using Microsoft Windows format to be able to adapt to other programs used for this position.
Electronic manufacturing industry experience
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand and/or sit for long periods of time.

VIEW JOBS 11/7/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-05T00:00 As a Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor at Caterpillar, you will determine the manufacturing processes, tooling and tool design, and equipment needed to successfully and economically produce assigned parts in accordance with engineering specifications. Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: * Responsible for supporting the manufacturing operation by providing tooling, processes, equipment, etc. needed and is done through coordination of a technical staff assigned to provide for the needs of the shop operation. Assignments include tool design, assembly, manufacturing processing, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, releasing, etc. and requires the coordination of all disciplines * Coordinates the introduction of new machines and equipment and process changes to provide the most efficient and economical manufacture or assembly of quality parts in alignment with APQP * Ensures optimum utilization of equipment and space by coordinating the layout of areas such as storage areas, test equipment, etc. to accommodate the changing production requirements * Coordinates release dates and availability of machines and equipment and material to maintain schedules and satisfy demand * Establishes standards and works with shop personnel to resolve problems related to process, tooling, equipment, etc * Ensures implementation of modern technology and follows to determine effectiveness of equipment and systems * Coordinates capital projects for process enhancement and to improve customer satisfaction, conducting research and ensuring proper approvals * Keeps abreast of industry changes by attending product demonstrations and identifies ongoing improvements in processes and technologies to better serve customers * Provides training, development and motivation for a staff capable of completing objectives and implementing cost reduction projects and meeting requirements of the manufacturing/assembly process * Supervises or manages a work unit of primarily management and salaried employees where planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reviewing work of subordinates is required * Responsible for expense budgets, capital forecasts and expenditures, and all personnel issues in the area including performance evaluations of subordinates * Responsible for manpower, rough cut capacity planning * Confronts complex issues and problems that require careful analysis and diagnosis Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree, preferably in an appropriate manufacturing or engineering related field or equivalent of 5 years or more work experience in Heavy Machinery with various manufacturing assignments both staff and supervisory role * Experience with planning systems, manufacturing operations, facilities, methods and tooling requirements * Experience with Caterpillar's Engineering Change Management, New Product Introduction and Quality Management System Top Candidate will also have: * Advanced degree * Skilled in CAPPLUS, HVC, VisView and other engineering tools * Previous experience with Caterpillar Prime Product Manufacturing and processes * Knowledge of Fabrication/Machining/Assembly * Proven leadership with strong analytical and communication skills * Excellent interpersonal skills are required to develop others and persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions * Ability to influence cross functional business partners Caterpillar is not currently hiring individuals for this position who now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status; however, as a global company, Caterpillar offers many job opportunities outside of the U.S. which can be found through our employment website at Caterpillar Decatur IL
