Under general supervision, performs moderately complex repair of equipment and facilities electro/mechanical systems. Diagnose, troubleshoot, test and repair facilities equipment failures. May have responsibility for multiple facilities within a geographic region.
Objective
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for all maintenance activities and ensuring that all equipment and systems are in optimal working condition.
This position will initially be based in Glasgow, DE. The position will move to our new plant in New Castle, DE at the end of the year. You will be able to see our existing facility/equipment before we move. The new plant will have all new equipment so this opportunity will allow the technician to help install the equipment that will eventually maintain.
Schedule:
Day To Day Responsibilities:
Inspect machines, develop repair lists, and identify short-term and long-term repairs so that machines run correctly.
Plan and schedule maintenance tasks to maintain production flow.
Respond swiftly to equipment breakdowns and allocate resources for quick repairs.
Document and communicate repairs and spare parts used.
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues on a variety of equipment (one production line from blending to packaging, with some redundancy).
Essential Functions
Production Equipment Maintenance:
Perform maintenance and repair on all production equipment.
Offer around-the-clock support to production staff if there is a breakdown of equipment, including weekends.
Review and fulfill work orders promptly.
Provide recommendations for equipment replacement when necessary.
Building Support Equipment Management:
Oversee the maintenance and repair of building support equipment, including air compressors, HVAC systems, lighting, water usage, fire/life safety, etc.
Take charge during emergency situations, including equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or facility crises, and lead response efforts effectively-24/7, including weekends.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards in all maintenance activities, including waste disposal and emissions.
Continuous Improvement:
Contractor Management for Facility Repairs and Improvements:
Other Responsibilities:
Assist various departments (R&D, Engineering, Front Office, and Lab) with mechanical tasks.
Install new equipment, make repairs, and upgrade existing equipment.
Ensure that all equipment meets safety requirements before transitioning it to production.
Self-Starter: you will often find yourself working unsupervised, so taking ownership of your quality and speed of work is essential when conducting preventative maintenance or addressing equipment failure.
Education and Experience:
Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as a Maintenance technician or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and control systems.
Must be able to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
Effective problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Basic computer skills PC and software.
Familiarity with ERP or CMMS software (like SAP or FIIX) is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or trade qualifications are a plus.
Detail-oriented with good analytical & troubleshooting skills
Manual dexterity & ability to lift 50 lbs.
Able to be flexible in work assignments within job description & flexible to shift requirements.
Ability to climb ladders.
Ability to operate scissor lift.
Ability to maintain forklift license/operate forklift safely.
