As a Paid Intern you will be provided an excellent opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the field of manufacturing. Interns will get the opportunity to take their creative ideas from the drawing board and use them to solve real world problems while collaborating with our experienced professionals.

We'll treat you as one of us, involving you in discussions, encouraging your technical growth and expanding your abilities. Identify and eliminate areas of waste. Develop lean skills through exposure, training and hands on learning Develop project management and presentation skills Participate in Kaizen and 5S events. The hours for this position is Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Design and develop processes and systems to improve manufacturing and warehousing methods around safety, quality, delivery, productivity and inventory reduction. (25%)

Develop standard work and work instructions for key operations. (25%)

Develop and analyze manufacturing data to measure, improve and identify target areas for improvement. (15%)

Perform time observation studies. (15%)

Assist in effectively communicating and implementing the changes and present results to management at the end of the internship. (10%)

Calculate inventory levels, storage requirements and Kanban quantities. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Pursuing a Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering at an accredited institution; rising juniors, rising seniors or graduate students preferred.

  • Project experience required, prior internship or work experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to use AutoCAD, Excel, and PowerPoint.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment where standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. are frequently used.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires no domestic travel.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This position is a non-exempt, non-permanent position with full-time hours located in Gallatin, TN.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$17.60 /hour
