Manufacturing Engineering Technician

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will support the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing changeovers, adjustments, repairs, calibration and preventive maintenance requirements on production machines, equipment and tools. Follow directions from superiors, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, engineering specifications, method sheets, and SOP's. Troubleshoot malfunctions and assist in the maintenance and safety requirements of the production equipment.


  • Perform machine changeovers and adjustments as needed to keep production running according to schedule.

  • Preventative maintenance including documentation, scheduling, and ordering of parts needed to repair machines.

  • Utilizes all necessary tools and procedures to keep machines operating in a safe and proper order as required, including daily, weekly, and monthly machine maintenance.

  • Possesses ability to troubleshoot and make necessary machine adjustments to keep machines running to meet production requirements.

  • Records and maintains machine/calibration records as required in accordance with procedures.

  • Assist manufacturing engineers as needed to ensure production requirements are met.

  • Ability to maintain and/or improve on a clean and safe working environment in manufacturing.

  • Assist with the maintenance and safety requirements of the production equipment as directed.

  • Performs additional duties or assignment as required by management.


  • Technical school background.

  • Solid mechanical repair background

  • Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems.

  • Proficient in reading blue prints, schematics and specification sheets.

  • Able to communicate and coordinate good ideas through to implementation.

  • Ability to communicate well, both orally and written.

  • Understanding of lean processes.

  • In-depth understanding of equipment, mechanics and application related to value streams.

  • Minimum of seven years of machine maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of safety requirements for machines and facilities.

The Summer Intern program at CooperSurgical provides college students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful projects that contribute to the overall business unit objectives. In addition to the assigned projects, Interns are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage networking with peers, managers, and employees. Essential Functions * Supporting the execution and continuous improvement of Operating Systems. The intern will learn the problem-solving methodology and look for opportunities to train and mentor associates on its use. In addition, working with the Production Supervisors to implement solutions to improve the organization and consistency of daily restoration. * Supporting the execution and continuous improvement of the production training program. Assisting in completion of documentation, improved utilization of the Train the Trainer methodology and continuous improvement of the execution of the training program. * Driving improvements to operational productivity levels. Analyze productivity using time studies to assist supervisor and drive associate accountability. * Assisting in completion of documentation including technical specification changes and updates. * Performs other related duties as assigned. Scope * The selected individual will be a hands-on contributor within the MPG Value Stream. The Intern will collaborate with Production Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Supply Chain Specialists, Value Stream Managers, and the Production Associates within the Operations team. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Intermediate computer skills to include the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Advanced preferred. * Well organized with attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks independently. * Excellent project management, organizational and follow-through skill set. * Creative problem-solving skills. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work in a team environment. * Professional demeanor. Experience * Not required, but prior Internship experience is a plus. Education * Current college student majoring in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing Management, Industrial Engineering, or related Technical degree, entering their Junior or Senior year. * Minimum 3.0 GPA.
