Job Overview
Komatsu is currently recruiting a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to support our Longview, Texas location.This position manages the manufacturing, welding, metallurgical and industrial engineering, CNC programming, maintenance activities and capital projects for the factory. These functions directly impact the product delivery, product quality, operations productivity, and safety in the factory and overall corporate objectives.
Key Job Responsibilities
Work safe and be an advocate for safety.
Manage personnel responsible for manufacturing, welding, metallurgical and industrial engineering along with CNC programming for the factory.
Manage personnel responsible for facility and equipment maintenance.
Coordinate reliability centered maintenance activities and engineering projects with the OE operations team and plant maintenance staff in support of production priorities.
Review product designs in terms of manufacturability and direct the development of production methods and process flow to support cost reduction while meeting quality and safety standards
Facilitate capital equipment purchases and installations.
Project manage significant facility upgrades and capital investments.
Direct the development and maintenance of time and motion data for use in establishing routings for plant activities.
Effectively communicate and interface with design engineering, production and supply chain peers.
Actively participate in the plant safety meetings.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations or related discipline is required (Master's degree preferred) plus 15 years experience in field.
Previous experience in managing manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering or welding engineering functions.
Previous experience in product design and in managing design engineering functions.
Previous experience in supervising/managing production areas and departments.
Practical experience utilizing Lean manufacturing tools/methodologies.
Proven ability to lead and effectively manage changes in the work environment and competing demands.
Excellent communication, project management and problem solving/resolution skills are crucial to success in this role.
Ability to manage and develop a team.
Ability to prioritize and allocate resources to align with department/company goals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
