As a ManufacturingEngineering Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the manufacturingoperation and Product Groups by managing specific technical functions for themachining operations.

Position will bespecifically responsible for Manufacturing Engineering functions for themachine shops with an estimated annual maintenance capital budget of $5M to$10M annually.

JobDuties/Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Supervise Manufacturing Engineering and Support functions for current manufacturing processes, new process justification and implementation, machines, equipment, tooling, work standards, NC programming, gage planning and technical troubleshooting to provide the most efficient and economical manufacturing and assembly of quality products.

  • Manage a staff using computer aided design who provides graphic job instructions, and NC and robotic programs to the machine shop. Facility layout and area allocations, and related regulatory compliance. Ensure optimum use of equipment and space in support of changing production requirements.

  • Coordinate release dates and availability of machines, equipment and material schedules to satisfy demand. Ensure implementation of modern technology and verify the effectiveness of equipment and systems. Establish standards and works with shop personnel to resolve problems related to process, tooling, equipment, etc.

  • Work jointly with marketing, engineering and customer services areas on concurrent product and process designs to ensure products and processes are of robust design and support economical production. Provide project management support for major systems and equipment installations.

  • Responsible for managing new product programs including coordination of product design, component processing, sales forecasting, customer support, scheduling and financial issues to assure meeting customer expectations while meeting functional and cost targets.

  • Adhere to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics and affirmative action.

  • Provide training, development and motivation for a staff capable of completing objectives and implementing cost reduction projects ensuring concurrent product and process design and meeting requirements of the manufacturing/assembly process. Incumbent is actively involved in decisions requiring experienced judgment and communicates regularly with managers of other divisions and departments as well as suppliers in resolving disagreements and providing information. Provide technical input to the development and reviews capital projects and challenges content of projects for validity and value before sending on to upper management for approval.

  • Develop and maintain budgetary controls for the section, establish and review objectives, and provide personnel requirements and future forecasts. Maintain awareness of new technology and evaluate its value to the profit center. Assist staff in developing and implementing new systems and keep other areas informed of progress. Effectively utilize Class A, 6 Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree 7 years of manufacturing experience.

  • In lieu of a degree, 12 years of manufacturing experience in a machining shop environment.

  • 2 years of supervisory experience.

Top Candidates Will AlsoHave:

  • Previous experience with Remanufacturing.

  • Previous experience with engine hot testing and knowledge of diesel engines.

  • Six Sigma Black Belt.

  • Thorough knowledge of planning systems, remanufacturing operations, methods and tooling.

  • Working knowledge of OEE calculations and ability to use metric data to drive efficiency improvements.

  • Knowledge of problem solving methodology.

  • Working knowledge of error proofing methods to progress Built In Quality for newly developed and existing reclaim processes.

  • Ability to procure and implement Machining or Grinding processes.
