Danfoss in Loves Park, IL is searching for a Manufacturing Engineering Intern. This intern will work with Low/Medium Manufacturing Engineers on projects which will improve quality, productivity, and delivery and improve uptime on equipment.
BACKGROUND & SKILLS
Pursuing a degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or similar technology degree
Ability to do physical work and use mechanical tools for construction or alterations of current equipment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts used for LEAN processes
Computer knowledge including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
Ability to work in fast-paced atmosphere
Desire and dedication to be a key contributing member of a hardworking team
Ability to work 15 - 20 hours/week during fall 2019 and spring 2020 semesters; 40 hours/week during summer 2020
Develop/improve standardized work instructions for assembly
Perform BOM audits (SAP, PDM, drawings, OLWI)
Perform process time studies
Improve level of 5S on factory floor
Develop/improve preventative maintenance procedures for factory equipment
Utilize RCPS (Root Cause Problem Solving) tools to resolve problems in the assembly processes
Deploy lean initiatives throughout the factory
Assist Manufacturing Engineers with their daily tasks
Install equipment and setup production line (e.g. Pick2Light system, selective solder, assembly stations)
