What Will You Do?

Under the direction of the Operations Excellence Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer will add subject matter expertise on how to best manufacture our products. This requires supporting production, being the voice of manufacturing in the product design process, and collectively working collaboratively with all departments to achieve the best balance of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) in the manufacturing process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures new products are able to be produced with methods that meet the minimum requirements of production related to SQDC

  • Develop manufacturing processes, procedures, and tooling used to produce final assembly products, related sub-assemblies, and new products

  • Seek out and implement automation in the production process

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing work center designs that best support SQDC

  • Develop and maintain work standards, including production work instructions, that best support SQDC.

  • Support small changes (Just-Do-Its) identified by Production in daily management Tier Boards

  • Lead structured Kaizen (A3, Rapid Improvement Events, DMAIC Project) driving significant improvements to SQDC

REQUIREMENTS FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering (ME) or 3-5 years of related experience or a combination of both.

  • Practical knowledge of Lean tools implementation

  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification

  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMSs)

SKILLS/ABILITIES/SPECIFICATIONS

  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, length, tolerances, proportions, percentages, area, circumferences, volume, electrical conversions, and statistics to practical situations

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, written, oral, or diagram format

  • Ability to form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
