Job Description: Defines and supports the processes required to manufacture & assemble drive train components in a high volume, flexible production facility utilizing machining and assembly equipment and techniques.
Documents the process, control plans, reaction plans, PFMEA, and updates as required.
Support supplier quality and manufacturing during ongoing production of new products and other critical periods.
Confers with management, engineering, maintenance and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to support a 3 shift manufacturing facility.
Understands statistical methods relative to determining the capability of machinery and processes.
Utilizes problem solving techniques (8 step, design of experiments, mistake proofing) Initiates, recommends or provides solutions through designated channels.
Support production with quality concerns in identifying root cause, developing action plan and driving implementation.
Assists plant layout in the placement of machinery and participates in material handling strategies.
Has a working knowledge of AITF 16949 process of certification.
Provides support to training activities for shop floor personnel.
Pursues relative personal training for continual knowledge growth.
Supports Engineering in performing tool trials, capability studies and develop standardize support documents.
Assist MEs with process routings for new launches and current processes
Assist in Lean Manufacturing and MAFACT Activities
Assist with creating safety and ergonomics documentation
Help develop Manufacturing Engineering Standards and Templates
Assist production in developing Standardized Work Instructions.
Assist MEs with PFMEAs, control plans (All Plex documents)
Develop reports (pareto scrap, KMIs, etc). Develop work plans for continuous improvement and report out to Manger each week. Primary focus for continuous improvement is scrap reduction, perishable tooling, and quality concerns.
Understands and follows the approval, release and archiving process with engineering.
Development of documentation control processes and procedures, including part numbering, document/drawing processes, standards and requirements. Also, develop uniform documentation processes for CAD drawings.
Assists in controlling all design related documents.
Ensure proper control / update of latest revisions of design related documents.
Capable of preparing sketches of ideas, detailed drawings, illustrations, and/or blueprints using AutoCAD.
May be expected to present designs and reports to engineering or production personnel for approval and to discuss possible needs for modification.
Support staff and material schedules to meet customer requirements.
Supports APQP activities
Balance line flow and work station content.
Other tasks as defined by management.

Associate's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or other technical degrees preferred OR significant related technical experience plus 5 years working experience with powertrain assembly. Excellent oral, written and computer skills a must. Capable of interfacing with corporate staff, vendors, customers and employees. Having experience with plant startups and major product launches is a plus.
Highly energetic and motivated individual wanting to work in a team oriented environment and be a significant contributor in a plant startup of high volume automotive products. The job will require more than the normal amount of setting, standing, and moving about the facility. Some travel required. Able to perform normal computer operations (spread sheets, email, project tracking, and presentations).
