Role Summary
As the successful candidate, being an Aflex Manufacturing Engineer means you will work collaboratively across production and other business units, acting as a key driver in the effectiveness and efficiency in the development of our company's manufactured products. This is a rare opportunity to be working within a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, so it's important that you aim to ensure that we are health and safety compliant and are working to produce exceptional quality products.
You will achieve this by developing a sound technical understanding of Aflex products & processes. To maintain & enhance high performing lines, your processing engineering talents will be critical to improving & documenting process and process designs that are Lean, safe, & aligned with our customer expectations.
As an integral part of our success, you will initially be focused on:
Providing project management & assistance in the closing & moving of the Aflex business to Devens.
Working with the UK team to ensure successful manufacturing knowledge transfer to the new colleagues who will train in the UK and Pennsylvania.
Developing increased product expertise as well as strong working skills with the AX configurator.
Leading the validation of the manufacturing cells.
Ongoing maintenance and improvement of the manufacturing process related to the assembly of AFLEX hose products.
The development of world-class manufacturing standards and operational procedures.
Assist in the hiring and development of the Aflex Team.
Launching SolidWorksPro to efficiently create assembly drawings for the shop floor.
The selection & approval of a video-based Work Instruction tool to secure well documented and accessible processes as well as capturing existing knowledge at current manufacturing locations.
What you'll be doing
You will assist the Team Lead in the efficient and LEAN manufacturing of company products, while ensuring process designs are capable such that product quality is maintained & improved.
You will review any issues that arise & assist the production team in problem solving and improvement efforts.
You will assist/lead Operational Excellence, Continuous Improvement, & related Lean deployment efforts to advance single-piece-flow, standard work, SMED, 6S, etc.
You will work closely with sales & UK engineering teams to develop a solid understanding of the products such that you can assist in feasibility assessments for Devens to produce special customer requirements & assist in developing related costs to do so.
You will collaborate and support other areas of the business as required.
You will assist in the achievement of manufacturing KPI targets. Including ownership of key KPI's for the process such as quality and efficiency as well as cost of manufacturing
You will provide project management and collaborate with our partnering manufacturing sites as required. This will include proposals for future capital investments for quality improvements, cost savings or technology advancements.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
Engineering degree, BS or MS in mechanical, chemical or manufacturing engineering
Experience with Configure-to-order hose assemblies is preferred
Critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.
Be organised, methodical, resilient and approachable with strong communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with global colleagues.
Proficiency in MS Office.
6 - Sigma Green belt or Black belt preferred
Proficiency with SolidWorks & SolidWorksPro.
Can effectively and appropriately challenge others
Can use personal initiative to work collaboratively as one team with a "can do" approach.
Have strong commercial awareness with an appreciation of operational functions.
