As a Tesla Manufacturing Engineer, you have the important role of designing "The Machine that builds the Machine". You will work with the cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Production, Sustaining, and Supply Chain) throughout the entire lifecycle of a product (from initial design through prototype development and into full production) to develop high quality and efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that will produce the power electronics that drive our cars and energy products.
Be a liaison between Electrical design, Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering
Conduct exploratory studies and analysis to identify PCB assembly processes to meet product requirements (SMD, Through Holes, pin stitch and other special interconnections)
Identify critical process parameters and quality attributes, and conduct experiments using Design of Experiments (DOE) methods to determine sensitivity and acceptable process windows
Perform stencil design, solder printing, component placement optimizations and good understanding of thermal profile, rework process, Adhesives, underfill, conformal coating and glue dispensing processes
Troubleshoot and identify corrective measures to critical equipment (mechanical, electrical, thermal, optical etc.) related problems
Share weekly updates for critical programs as requested by management
Drive continuous improvement & optimization activities to meet production targets including availability, quality, and performance
Minimum of 4 years' experience in PCBA manufacturing/process environment
Deep knowledge on industry standards for PCBA - IPC610, JEDEC J-STD-001 and Test Methods
Knowledge in DFM processes for PCB Fabrication and PCBA Assembly and preferred candidate with deep knowledge of Valor software, strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly
Experience developing and taking new automated manufacturing processes and equipment from the prototype stage through high volume production
Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly
Ability to communicate effectively with direct team and peers within a manufacturing and engineering organization. This includes exemplary verbal and written communication skills
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
