The Manufacturing Engineering position plans, directs, develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods by applying sound engineering principles in design and problem solving.
Duties and Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, repair, & coordinate service on pick & place and soldering equipment for printed circuit board assembly to maintain production runtime.
Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layout for maximum efficiency and product flow.
Study specifications, engineering blueprints, and shop data while discussing with engineering and shop personnel to resolve design problems.
Prepare manufacturing concepts & strategies, coordinate review and approval by manufacturing staff and develop detailed work instructions & drawings.
Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
Evaluate and recommend practices related to electronics and printed circuit board assembly
Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, times, cost, staffing, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
Evaluate product lines and recommend changes in production methods, materials, and product design to optimize throughput, quality, and cost.
Provide input to safety committee, Lean Manufacturing Teams, Customer service, QC, Purchasing, etc.
Develop and execute productivity and cost savings projects to further advance manufacturing abilities.
Skills and Experience
Manufacturing engineering and electronic experience
Experience with printed circuit boards, pick & place machines, & soldering equipment a plus
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good computer and technical experience (SAP a plus)
Ability to read and interpret documents such as maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, & engineering drawings.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Need to be able to exercise good judgment and decision-making skills
Need to be able to work in a group of peers as well individually with little guidance.
Experience in Lean Manufacturing methods.
Bachelors Degree in Engineering General or Electronics
