Essential Functions

Essential Functions:

Develop innovative solutions to complex engineering and manufacturing production problems

through identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes including conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with suppliers, and soliciting observations from the operators/production technicians.

Refine and enhance processes by applying continuous improvement and key Lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to areas of production. Recommend product changes/improvements to Product Engineers.

Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Coordinate input that may cross multiple teams or areas; make recommendations, and implement changes.

Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, and establishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing process requirements. Determine root cause of failure using statistical methods (e.g., design of experiment, SPC) that may result in changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods.

Evaluate capital equipment investments and prepare cost justifications. Design and prepare concept drawings of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment. Manage the overall implementations of capital equipment projects.

Develop tooling and fixtures for new products and processes and work with tooling vendors to supply such designs.

Identify and implement solutions for issues relating to safety, quality, productivity, and cost reductions.

Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes and engineering procedures. Prepare reports summarizing analyzed process information and trends.

Share specialized knowledge with others. Represent Company on specific projects, lead and participate on project teams.


Position Summary:

To develop and evaluate new processes and improve current process capability, efficiency, and overall productivity in all areas of manufacturing in support of the Corporate WIN Strategy.

Scope/Supervision and Interaction:

This job has no supervisory responsibility; however, this position mentors entry-level Manufacturing Engineers and new employees.

Must have ability to deal with people at a cross-functional level. Position requires ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form in order to present information and respond to inquiries from employees, customers, and suppliers.


Due to this facility contracting with the US Government, this position must comply with the International Trade in Arms Regulations. Therefore, all qualified candidates must either be a US Citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident (green card holder.)

- Bachelor's Degree in related Engineering or Technology field and 5-7 years of related experience required.

  • Good math skills and familiarity with personal computer and CAD software required.

  • Must possess strong mechanical aptitude, ability to use basic measuring tools, and hands-on capabilities to work on projects without supervision.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes preferred. Prefer Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, project management, FMEAs, and quality systems experience.

VIEW JOBS 4/5/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-04T00:00 Refrigeration Engineer SUMMARY Primarily responsible for organizing, implementing and maintaining the facility OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) for our Ammonia refrigeration in compliance with federal, state and local laws. Support capital investment in refrigeration systems (expansion, reliability improvement, …). Drive standards and specification for refrigeration systems at all locations. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Utilizing specialized skill set to support in the maintenance and optimal operating condition of a variety of equipment. Schedule, conduct and track the status of compliance audits, mechanical integrity, hazard analyses, incident investigation and other action items and recommendations, as well as keeping facility management informed of compliance status. Be informed and aware of refrigeration projects at the plant. Facilitate management of change (MOC) documentation, contractor qualification process and conduct incident Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations. Assist the Engineering team with projects throughout the facility. Assist in the installation and start-up of new refrigeration equipment and processes. Using specialized skill sets, performs corrective maintenance and emergency maintenance on Ammonia system equipment to maximize equipment up-time. Troubleshoot and resolve advanced equipment mechanical/electrical issues within specialized the ammonia. Maintain document management system, hard copy and electronic, for all PSM / RMP records. Written and verbal communications with refrigeration operators, facility Engineering and Maintenance management, corporate EHS, and others as required in communicating the status, needs, and any necessary information regarding PSM and RMP programs. Develop and implement training programs consistent with RMP / PSM requirements and lead PSM Team meetings. Develop and implement plans, programs, processes and documented procedures for Ammonia refrigeration programs. Capable to assist with the duties of other Maintenance Mechanics and plant personnel. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. REQUIREMENTS * High School diploma with additional technical training in Ammonia refrigeration (GCAP, RETA, etc.) is required. 4-year mechanical engineering degree is preferred. * RETA Certification is required, minimum 5 years' experience in a PSM/RMP environment with Ammonia refrigeration. * Minimum of (5) years' experience in advanced mechanical troubleshooting/repair skills and/or specialized training. * Have working knowledge in AutoCAD and be able to build / modify drawings in AutoCAD * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) * Ability to withstand walking, lifting, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, walking on roofs and working in confined spaces * Effective communicator * Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings and technical specifications * Ability to read and understand complex regulatory requirements * Ability to conform to all OSHA, PSM, HAZMAT and Publix safety programs and regulations * Basic knowledge in AC/DC electrical troubleshooting skills. * Ability to build and manipulate data in Excel and build templates for use by others.
