The Position: Our Manufacturing Engineers lead the way in our efforts to become a world class manufacturing plant dedicated to making the best automatic sliding doors in the industry. Plant Layout, process improvements, product redesign and automation are all part of our plan to achieve success.
Design, plan and improve manufacturing operations, processes, and systems to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost and inventory performance expectations.
Support the evaluation and management of software applications and functionality available across manufacturing systems.
Implement communication tools, such as Work Instructions, Method Sheets, Computer Aided Process Planning, Operator Displays, Performance/Status Dashboards, and other connected worker support tools.
Support the instrumentation, control, connectivity, and analytic solutions around manufacturing equipment and operational assets.
Lead initiatives to reduce production errors and improve product quality across manufacturing systems.
Develop and maintain accurate plant layouts.
Schedule delivery of all tools, fixtures, gages, and equipment on time.
Has the ability to understand and use all automated equipment and be responsible for training others, making sure uptime is met, problem solving and preventing downtime.
Drive and implement Lean culture in all day to day activities.
Serve as liaison between Production and Engineering departments by developing engineering change notices and process specifications pertaining to manufacturing processes and material specifications.
Travel by airplane and/or drive rental or company automobile to all company facilities, vendor, or seminars and expositions.
Perform any assembly operation including material handling and machining operation in order to establish accurate costing standards and to train and instruct hourly associates.
Perform other related duties as required.
4-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Project Leadership experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
Proficiency in data collection and analysis along with statistical analysis.
Knowledge/experience with equipment justification, assembly, consumer product manufacturing, and vendor relations preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Experience with metal fabrication machinery and/or assembly process in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with an MRP system.
Demonstrated ability to implement change to improve results.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Experience with project managing of layout changes and machine commissioning.
Must be self-motivated.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Experience with manufacturing execution systems.
Experience with machine tools and/or automation.
LEAN / 6 Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
Experience with programming languages.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively handle multiple tasks.
