Job Summary

Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. Develops and maintains detailed work instructions for assigned products/processes.

Dispositions discrepant hardware. Provides suggestions to improve productivity. Provides day-to-day support to manufacturing personnel. Determines requirements for tools/fixtures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Design Engineering on design and manufacturability issues.

  • Coordinates with production on day-to-day activites. Resolves routine manufacturing process issues and assists in the resolution of complex manufacturing process issues.

  • Evaluates discrepant hardware. Conducts root cause/corrective action investigations using multiple tools; 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, 5D, etc.

  • Research and evaluate commercially available tools and equipment to support manufacturing activities.

  • Troubleshoots existing processes to improve safety, quality, cost and efficiency.

  • Educates/trains operators on new and existing processes.

  • Incorporate engineering changes on work in process.

Education and Experience

Requires BS in Engineering & 2 years or Masters Degree in Engineering. Experience in automation, system design and layout, manufacturing and/or project engineering.

Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems is currently seeking Senior Manufacturing/Process Engineers to support manufacturing execution excellence and technical issues resolution in multiple manufacturing areas at our Small Caliber Systems Division in Independence, MO facility (LCAAP). Job Summary Develops and maintains manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. Develops and maintains detailed work instructions for assigned products/processes. Dispositions discrepant hardware. Investigates root cause of discrepancies and implements corrective actions. Performs material flow analysis, cycle time analysis, and value stream mapping. Supports program reviews. Performs DFMX initiatives. Develops tools/fixtures. Job Responsibilities 1. Investigate various process performance factors and rules-in-use through direct observation of the production floor operations 2. Perform in-depth analysis of existing or acquired machine and product data 3. Evaluate tooling and production processes in order to improve machine operation and aide operators in producing quality products reliably 4. Develop relationships with machine operators and operations supervisions to foster an environment of continuous improvement within our high volume manufacturing equipment 5. Collaborates with Design Engineering on design and manufacturability issues. 6. Coordinates with production on day-to-day activities. Resolves complex manufacturing process issues. 7. Evaluates discrepant hardware. Conducts root cause/corrective action investigations using multiple tools; 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, 5D, etc. Recommends corrective actions. 8. Communicates manufacturing plans and processes to internal and external customers through Manufacturing Readiness reviews 9. Research and evaluate commercially available tools and equipment to support manufacturing activities. Design and procure specialized tooling and fixtures. 10. Troubleshoots existing processes to improve safety, quality, cost and efficiency. 11. Educates/trains operators on new and existing processes. 12. Represent manufacturing at change control board to determine impact of proposed changes. Incorporate engineering changes on work in process. Sound interpersonal skills, observational and experimental design skills, solid process-engineering skills, and data analysis and trending skills are a must for this position. The candidate's success will be defined by their ability to: 1. Identify the gaps between our standard practices and the rules-in-use on the production floor 2. Close those gaps 3. Improve the standard practice and machines in the area to reduce variation in our product. Basic Qualifications: BS in Requires Engineering & 4 years or Masters in Engineering & 2 years.
