Manufacturing Engineer

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer for our Dayton, OH facility. In this role you will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining electrical, PLC, machine controls and automation in support to critical manufacturing processes. Responsible for managing projects related to new equipment or capital improvements, including selection and interaction with suppliers. Responsible for managing projects related to production process and equipment improvements, in support to OOE activities. Role provides active support to maintenance department with technical troubling and repair for major breakdowns.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design and build Electrical, PLC, and machine controls.
  • Project Management of equipment rebuilds and generation upgrades.
  • Support Maintenance department with technical troubling and repair for major breakdowns.
  • Maintain strong on-floor presence with focus on continuous process improvement through implementation of lean manufacturing and other operational excellence methodologies (OOE Support).
  • Develop and lead capital expense projects purchase, installation and start up.
  • Partners with purchasing, engineering, production, maintenance and tooling departments.
  • Facilitate communication between engineering, manufacturing, maintenance and tooling departments.
  • Corrects operational deficiencies by introducing irreversible resolutions through effective use of cross-functional teams and problem-solving techniques.
  • Evaluates KPIs for trends or gaps and recommend solutions. Prepares daily and monthly reports based on KPI analysis.
  • Investigates, analyzes and compiles necessary data for the justification and recommendation of new equipment or rebuild of current equipment
  • Develop, implement, and update documentation and training
  • Other responsibilities as assigned to support plant operations.
  • Must participate in annual training to update and document job related skills including Core Tools (SPC, MSA, APQP and PFMEA) as applicable to the position.
  • Conduct Safety Risk Assessments for all project work to reduce risk of injury.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university + 3 years' experience in equipment design, development, and deployment OR
  • Associates Degree from an accredited university + 5 years' experience in equipment design, development, and deployment OR
  • High School Degree + 7 years' experience in equipment design, development, and deployment.
  • Lean manufacturing and six-sigma experience is a plus.
  • Electrical, PLC and machine controls experience is preferred.
  • Automotive experience preferred
  • Project Management experience.
  • Production equipment mechanical, and electrical assembly and repurposing, required.
  • Allen Bradley PLC, and HMI programing skills.
  • AC/DC and servo motor and controls.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatics.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and the internet.
  • CAD, Microsoft Office experience.
