Our client needs a Manufacturing Engineer for their production of industrial equipment used in the production of food and pharmaceuticals. You will lead initiatives centered on the continuous improvement of manufacturings processes using Lean Manufacturing techniques.

You will report to the Manufacturing Manager. Career advancement opportunities do exist leading to management and involving CI, product development or project engineering


Duties:
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, standard operating procedures (SOPs), utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiencies.
Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
Work with Supply Chain Department and Quality Manager to confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Provide feedback to the Manufacturing Manager if labor estimates are proven inaccurate.
Verify that equipment and processes are capable of producing the specified quality output, auditing the quality of the output of each process as required.
Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
Occasional travel to customer or vendor plant locations is required up to 20%

Requirements:

Associates degree in Manufacturing Engineering is required, BS preferred
4+ years experience in Manufacturing Engineering implementing Lean Manufacturing methods is required.
Experience working in cross-functional operations with manufacturing, operations and engineering
Experience making custom capital equipment is required
Helpful would be any experience with equipment for the food/beverage/bio-pharmaceutical industry

In this role, the Manufacturing Engineer will plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes at the site. The Manufacturing Engineer will utilize project management skills to implement new operational processes and equipment. Leads and facilitates lean activities as needed. * Prepare and maintain manufacturing documentation (Routings, OMS's, and MI's) for new and existing products in manufacturing. * Prepare documentation using Excel, CAD packages, Word, and digital photography. Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. * Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. * Apply problem solving techniques to resolve both customer and internal quality issues for manufactured products. * Participate in PFMEA (Process, Failure, Mode, Effects, Analysis), Quality Plan development for new and existing product, and safety RCCM's * Work to create and maintain a safe work environment. Job Requirements & Skills You should: * Have earned at least a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Operations Management. * Have 1 to 4 years of experience in manufacturing, supporting both processes and improvement * Be proficienct in Word, Excel along with experience in an ERP system such as JDE or SAP would be advantageous.
