The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is a key leadership role within

Pacific Scientific EMC. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager provides

the leadership and technical support for a team of engineers involved

in the operational support efforts of the various manufacturing

facilities within PSEMC. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will

engage in a variety of projects including the execution of program

budgets, schedules, and resource allocations, partners with Operations

and Design Engineering on production issues (design and / or process

problems, design reviews and failure analysis). The Manufacturing

Engineering Manager interfaces with customers through manufacturing

process reviews and customer site meetings as well as mentors engineers

and technical personnel in ordnance / pyrotechnics manufacture and new

product development (NPD) methodology.


  • Formulate and implement departmental short and long term plans consistent with company objectives.

  • Develop and achieve department performance targets and improvements including process capability, productivity and first pass rates.

  • Lead the manufacturing team to follow best engineering practices, company procedures and processes.

  • Lead efforts in resolving issues with current production programs thru active participation in production team reviews, failure analysis and technical meetings.

  • Conduct daily management and communicate performance results across the organization as required.

  • Management of NPD activities related to bringing new products into production.

  • Customer interface to support B&P, technical reviews, innovation, and relationships.

  • Analyze production process problems and break them down into smaller functions.

  • Identify critical paths and assign appropriate staff to achieve objectives.

  • Drive execution and process discipline.

  • Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Masters of Science ME in Engineering or MBA is a plus.

  • Demonstrated competency in problem solving skills plus 10 years of experience as a manufacturing professional.

  • 2-3 years previous supervisory experience a plus.

Utilizes Lean, Kanban, Kaizen, and best-practices in the set-up and support of new and existing production cells. Must be able to develop tooling or other assembly and test aids to safely assist the technicians while adhering to the company policies on energetic materials handling. Provides technical problem solving and training to operational personnel. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Reviews and interprets product design drawings and develops work instructions and process procedures to enable operational personnel to produce products in accordance with design specifications. 2. Develops process routings and labor standards for use in proposal cost estimating and shop floor control scheduling requirements. 3. Prepares labor, material, tooling and equipment cost estimates for proposals. 4. Develops and implements production process layouts and producibility plans. 5. Develops capital equipment specifications and supports capital equipment justification, installation and start-up. 6. Designs tooling and fixturing for use in the production and inspection of company products. 7. Implements statistical process control and conducts process capability studies on critical processes. 8. Participates in design reviews to ensure the manufacturability of proposed designs. 9. Conducts process audits and time studies of existing processes for optimization and elimination of waste. 10. Conducts periodic Kaizen events. Education experience and Skills Required: * B.S. Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering * Solid Works / Auto Cad experience a plus * Automation programming experience a plus * Proficient with Microsoft Office tools * Prior internship experience preferred Fortive Hollister CA
