Come and be part of our team in the dynamic world of Lockheed Martin Space. You will perform as a member of a team in the role of a Manufacturing Engineer supporting electronics manufacturing. This role will require you to be organized with exceptional attention-to-detail skills. You will collaborate with manufacturing engineers, technicians, and other key essential team members supporting manufacturing. Individuals in this role typically have 2 or more years of professional experience, are able to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team, are self-starters with the ability to think, and be dedicated in their efforts. This is considered a journey-level career position.

Summary of Key Duties for this position:

  • You will perform various duties including creating and/or developing mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes.

  • Support the manufacturing of circuit cards, sub-assemblies, electronic packages, and electronic boxes.

  • Assist in investigating design/manufacturing factors such as equipment or part availability, manufacturability, ease of assembly, weight and cost.

  • You will assist with evaluating vendor designs/processes.

  • Create and maintain all assembly documentation.

  • Trouble shoot/correct anomalies and discrepant h hardware.

  • Work with others to establish development, verification, and qualification test requirements, implement the test program, and evaluate the results.

  • Provide floor support for a mechanical and electronics manufacturing environment that includes circuit card, cable, sub-assembly, module and box assembly shops.

  • Communicate with program personnel and report project statuses to program leadership.

  • You will serve in the capacity shop floor liaison.

Typical Experience:

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience; or no experience with a related Masters degree. Considered career, or journey, level.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and/or experience with electronics and mechanical manufacturing and assembly processes.

  • Knowledge of mechanical and/or electronics shop theory.

  • Knowledge and ability to interpret electronics and mechanical engineering drawings and bill of materials.

  • Experience with cost estimation and/or quote preparation.

  • Experience with computer applications such as windows, word, excel, power point.

  • Ability to write work instructions, reports and keep accurate documentation.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Management (ERM), SAP & Part, Materials & Processes (PMP) & VECAMS.

  • Manufacturing flow centers and LEAN manufacturing flow optimization.

  • Problem solving techniques to resolve quality issues and ability to design and develop manufacturing aids to improve manufacturing efficiency and in-process quality.

  • LM21 Green Belt and LEAN Mfg. certified.

  • Possess a current Secret clearance.

The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google's powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you're right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google's infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google's infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience. As a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer in the Supply Chain Organization (SCO), you will join the team responsible for providing manufacturing support and guidance for Google's Packaging and Electro-mechanical products. You are a manufacturing expert with a proven track record of overcoming obstacles to successfully launch new products in Contract Manufacturer (CM) and Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) environments. You are hands-on and have extensive understanding of the tools, processes and techniques used to manufacture electro-mechanical products. You are a valued partner to the product development team through your industry knowledge, experience identifying and qualifying advanced manufacturing techniques, and your Design for Excellence (DFX) feedback. Preferred qualifications: * Experience with Product Data Management systems (Agile, Windchill) and 3D CAD modeling tools, such as SolidWorks or Pro Engineer. * Proven experience developing solid, effective technical relationships with contract manufacturers. * Expertise with electro-mechanical assembly. * Understanding of precision sheet metal fabrication processes (NC punching, press brake forming, hardware insertion processes), hard tooling fabrication processes (metal stamping) and plastic injection molding processes. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. * Perform Design for Manufacturability/Assembly analysis, Design for Cost analysis for sheet metal (soft tool), plastic injection molded, metal stamped (hard tool), and electro-mechanical parts and assemblies, effectively communicating required design and material changes to contract manufacturers and engineering peers. * Identify and qualify contract manufacturers/vendors for precision sheet metal, high-volume metal stamping, plastic injection molding, tooling and level 3 electro-mechanical assemblies. * Provide Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering support to global manufacturing partners during development and production builds. * Resolve manufacturing and field challenges and product test issues to others within the organization.
