Manufacturing Process Engineer: Catalyst for Innovation and Efficiency

Role Overview:

As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, you're the driving force behind the creation and refinement of manufacturing processes that set industry standards. In this pivotal role, you'll develop, implement, and document manufacturing solutions that are both cost-effective and aligned with product specifications and quality standards. Your expertise will guide the seamless transition of products from design to manufacturing, ensuring operational excellence and product integrity.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and document efficient manufacturing methods, translating complex engineering drawings into practical work instructions.
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses to establish production timelines, resource needs, and cost implications, directly influencing management decisions on capacity and productivity.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all Bill of Materials (BOM) and routing information, fostering collaboration with planning and design teams for efficient production methods.
  • Implement and champion continuous improvement strategies, leading cost reduction initiatives and enhancing production processes and controls.
  • Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new or revised products, engaging with vendors to optimize production capabilities.

Cross-Training Opportunities:

  • Diversify your skill set with cross-training in Quality Engineering, acquiring in-depth knowledge of laser design through collaboration with Product Engineers.
  • Gain familiarity with MIS systems, including Lab View and BAAN/ERP, to enhance manufacturing processes and efficiency.
  • Strengthen your understanding of ISO 9000 standards, ensuring compliance and quality across all operations.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, complemented by at least 5 years experience in manufacturing process engineering.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) to forecast manufacturing needs and identify process optimizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and coordinate the manufacture or purchase of test fixtures and equipment, and to lead new product introductions from design to production.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with vendors to achieve manufacturing goals.
