Job Summary

Manufacturing Engineering (ME) in the Engines business line is responsible for delivering manufacturing engineering solutions to the Operations organization. ME's develop, introduce and sustain these solutions to enable and deliver Zero Defect Manufacturing processes during the serial production phase of the product Life Cycle. ME's are accountable for defining and delivering robust and capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.

This position can be located anywhere in the US West region.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for introducing technical improvement initiatives in order to strengthen the performance of current industrial structure.

  • Responsible for the implementation of tooling and or production planning, from original concept through to production. ME's design these processes with a high degree of process capability utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite.

  • ME's deliver measurable, metrics driven results in line with Operational goals.

  • Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers

  • Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.

  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems.

  • Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.

  • Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN

  • Participates in activities within a global technical community and has an understanding of the interface with broader business functions within GKN.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical)

  • 2 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering

  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GKN Experience

  • Working knowledge of LEAN processes and practices

  • Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000

  • Demonstrated experience with AS-9145 Zero Defect Manufacturing, or equivalent automotive PPAP experience

  • Experience with New Product / Process introduction (industrialization) & existing production process improvements

  • Knowledge of statistics and statistical process control (SPC)

  • Strong background with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel

Job Summary The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is accountable for delivering Manufacturing Engineering solutions to the Programs and Operations organizations. This will include creating a Zero Defect culture through the application of the Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to ensure industry leading quality performance, guaranteeing on time delivery. The role will also be accountable for delivering year on year conversion cost productivity targets in collaboration with the site leadership team. Job Responsibilities * Exemplifying a safety-first mindset and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards. * Building and leading a high performance, multi-disciplined Manufacturing Engineering organization encompassing the whole ME perimeter including Facilities & Maintenance. This includes managing talent selection, training, development, engagement, ongoing performance and succession planning. * Budgetary ownership for the site Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities & Maintenance team. * Accountable for delivering annual quality improvement targets for the site, enabling year on year conversion cost target realization. * Accountable for delivering Facilities & Maintenance performance results in accordance with Site Budget and Strategic Plan. * Developing the Zero Defects Manufacturing (ZDM) mindset and culture into the site Manufacturing Engineering organisation through implementation of standard ZDM tool suite and APQP process. * Developing close relationships with Program teams to deliver manufacturing engineering solutions in line with customer requirements and expectations. * Accountable for sustaining and improving Program & Product manufacturing engineering systems in line with business case expectations. Job Qualifications Required Qualifications: * Bachelor Degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical) * Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering leadership * Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.
