Role Overview:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in optimizing production processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring the highest quality standards are met. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about manufacturing and eager to make a significant impact within our organization.

Work Environment: On-site, Palmer MA

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Optimization: Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity.

  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Collaborate with cross-functional teams during the NPI process to ensure smooth transition from design to production. Develop and implement manufacturing plans, including process flow, work instructions, and production schedules.

  • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, including lean manufacturing techniques, Six Sigma methodologies, and Kaizen events. Drive a culture of innovation and efficiency throughout the organization.

  • Quality Assurance: Work closely with quality assurance teams to develop and implement quality control procedures, ensuring that products meet or exceed customer specifications. Investigate root causes of defects and implement corrective actions as necessary.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and calibration of manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. Coordinate with maintenance staff to schedule preventive maintenance activities and address equipment issues promptly.

  • Cost Reduction: Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs while maintaining product quality and performance standards. Evaluate alternative materials, processes, and suppliers to optimize cost-effectiveness.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of manufacturing processes, including process specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and production records. Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and identify areas for improvement.

Critical Competencies for Success

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial)

  • Ability to apply principles of logical and scientific thinking to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions/recommendations

  • Lean manufacturing experience

  • Capacity to deliver against multiple and competing objectives
