We are searching for a - Manufacturing Engineer III in our Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division, located in Plano,TX

Our AS&T division is built on the proposition that a small team of the right people can do what others will not even attempt. We specialize in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced small Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience. As a Manufacturing Engineer III you will develop, maintain and improve manufacturing processes for electro-mechanical assembly and electrical testing of radar systems and sub-systems. Manufacturing Engineer will also participate with the development team to realize a product design and apply engineering principles and troubleshooting skills to provide day-to-day technical support to development and production lines.

You will demonstrate success by:

  • Apply Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/A) principles and analysis techniques to product designs; participate on product development IPTs; provide design engineers. Manufacturing/process capability information during product development.

  • Identify, select, implement and maintain manufacturing equipment to support required production volumes. Specify and design special assembly tooling, fixtures and shop aids required to support required production volumes.

  • Interface with programs design engineering, test engineering, quality, procurement and management staff as required to drive attainment of programs production objectives (cost, throughput, yields, etc).

  • Support programs supplier management effort as required including activities such as supplier manufacturing capability assessment; production problem resolution; cost reduction and quality improvement efforts.

  • Develop and maintain lean manufacturing processes to support production by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly methods, tooling, material handling and materials.

  • Analyze and plan assembly process flows, production-staffing, equipment, space requirements and layout for manufacturing efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing planning documentation, including production routers, work instructions, shop process procedures, etc.

  • Assure product and process quality by designing, proofing and validating manufacturing methods, including assembly, process, inspection and test; establish standard work procedures, process capability and process control techniques, including statistical process control (SPC)

  • Plan and execute programs Manufacturing Development effort. Conduct Manufacturing Readiness Assessment (MRA); develop Transition to Production roadmap and attain required Manufacturing. Readiness Level (MRL) by each program milestone. Support MRA/MRL activities at suppliers as needed.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production performance issues to resolution.

  • Train production and technician staff as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional responsibilities will include process and equipment specification and testing. You will be expected to drive projects in accordance to the agreed upon performance criteria, schedules, and cost targets. As a level III engineer, you will lead projects while directing internal and external resources and utilizing strong project management and collaboration skills. Responsibilities: * Work in a cross-functional environment to gather new packaging requirements. * Develop and refine specifications for primary, secondary, tertiary, packaging. * Validate, and lead execution of new materials for manufacturing scale-up. * Develop process and process windows for joining packaging materials. * Develop, test and document test procedures and success criteria. * Conduct lab/pilot/scale-up tests as well as factory acceptance tests * Design and perform statistical experiments. * Determine quality requirements and support adherence to specifications. * Facilitate execution of CAPEX projects. * Manage multiple external resources such as contractors and vendors. * Collaborate with other engineering functions for manufacturing and quality. * Work closely with procurement and legal on contracts, IP and supplier agreements. * Work closely with internal plants, supply chain and raw materials suppliers. * Research and lead productivity initiatives. * Provide the procurement and supplier quality departments with advanced-level technical support, including vendor selection, capabilities assessment, and material qualifications. Requirements What you must have: * Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Packaging Engineering (Masters a plus) * 7+ years of experience. * Experience with advanced development and testing of paperboard, corrugate, molded fibers, foams, and plastic packaging materials. * Experience in Design to Value (DTV). * Experience with CAD packaging software (SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, Tops, CAPE). * Experience with producing technical documents (specifications, die lines, structural drawings). * Experience managing projects with outside vendors and/or contract manufacturers. * Excellent project management skills. * Excellent oral and written communication/presentation skills. * Excellent computer skills using Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, MS Project. * Knowledge/understanding of manufacturing packaging equipment; Equipment design a plus. * A demonstrated understanding and ability to use statistical methods (DOEs, Root Cause Analysis). * Ability to work and lead in a team environment. * Self-motivated, autonomous, and organized individual. * Strong analytical and problem solving ability. * Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple projects. * Ability to travel up to 30%.
